How do you know 50 years from now we won't have ray guns? campare today and 25 years ago, think of the new technology we have achieved, i think in 50 years we will have achieved something similar to a ray gun, i mean, we already have lasers that explode planes in midair
In a few thousand years no one will be left on earth, So it wont matter.
I honestly don't think we have technology like that for a couple of thousand years, not hand held anyway. You will need to think about storing the power soruce for use, make sure it doesn't overheat and to actually kill an enemy. And anyway, I just have a feeling we won't get weapons like that for a few thousand years. Anyway weapons take ages to go out of fashion, look at the sword, it was only stopped being used at the start of the century.
