Firewall ports for Xbox LIVE and Windows Vista Certified DevicesI think this is really important for all of the 360'ers and just wanted to post this to help anyone. Feel free to contact me on any questions. I am just trying to post this so that I can hopefully help anyone that is having problems. Most all of us use a router and there are 3 ports on there that have to be open in order to communicate with live and your friends and everything.
Seems like alot of people have this problem. I had it too until I found out that my friends didnt do what I did. Make sure on your router that you have the following ports open, especially on COD4. Even if your NAT says "open", do it. It opens up all communication in Xbox Live.
**NOTE: YOUR COMPUTER MUST BE CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO YOUR ROUTER WITH A CABLE TO MAKE THE CHANGES, DO NOT MAKE CHANGES TO YOUR ROUTER VIA WIRELESS**The following ports must be available for Xbox Live to operate correctly:
TCP 80
UDP 88
UDP 3074
TCP 3074
UDP 53
TCP 53
You will have to go into your routers configuration page. I have a Linksys so I got to the web and type in: 192.168.1.1
Just open up those ports and dont forget to save your settings and you are good to go. Make sure your friends do it too. I had friends that I couldnt talk to but once they did this, they have no problems whatsoever! If you are still having problems, there is one more setting. It is called the DMZ setting. You may type an IP address in here and it will allow it to be free with no restrictions. On your Xbox go to Network Settings and write down your IP address that is listed. Use that same address in your DMZ configuration on your router and then just save it. WHALAH!
Here is another site that you can go to, it is very helpful:
Pick your router and then go to Xbox 360 Live
