The word bed actually looks like a bed.

« on: March 13, 2009, 06:59:33 AM »

So after getting a little on the heavier side I decided to slim down big time and get lean and cut for the summer. I have been lifting heavy and gaining a lot of weight so I look bigger but now thats getting a little rough on the heart and what not.

If anyone wants to take place in a little thing with me its called: Calorie Count from About.com. Pretty much you make an account and you have to start your diet by March 15th 11:59PM Pacific time this weekend and I will add you to the challenge. The challenge is to meet your goal weight by July 1st. I am starting tomorrow with my diet and I am at 5'7" 185lbs trying to get to 160lbs by July 1st.

Rules:
1. Your Goal has to be reasonable but at the same time real. Losing 2lbs in almost 4 months is just plain stupid. The minimum weight your goal has to be is 10lbs gain or lose.
2. You need to take a before picture, during picture (Sometime in May), and the final picture. If your not comfortable with this then don't take part in the Challenge.
3. If anyone makes fun of a member who either weighs too much or too little, they will get an instant permaban. (I am serious.) Encouragement is the only thing allowed. I will be stickying this thread in the Competitions thread after sunday so people can keep posting there.
4. You have to lose weight or gain weight depending on your goal. If you weigh 120 and want to get to 140 then that has to be your goal. You must establish your goal and everyone who is participating must keep everyone updated on how they are doing.
5. This is based purely on an honor system. You can take pictures obviously but anything can be photoshopped these days. If your doing this just to get a badge, your in it for the wrong reasons. Do it for yourself and if you lie, I won't know, but you will know, and thats 10x worse.
6. If you fail the challenge you will still get a badge, a different one, but you will get one for participating. If you complete the challenge and you win your goal, you will get a badge and a signature.

Completing your Goal by July 1st:
Badge + Signature
Completing Goal after July 1st:
Badge + Different Signature from one above
Competing in Challenge:
Badge

I hope at least 1 of you will take part in this with me. My gf is doing it with me, and even though she is only trying to lose 5 lbs 125-120 it gave me the motivation to start it up. Pictures will be posted on EG for everyone to see. This is so we can all motivate each other to do well and to complete our goals! And for those of you who participate in it we can compare diets, exercise programs, etc. I have some great foods to eat that are low in calories but delicious tasting Smiley

The website to sign up is: http://caloriecount.about.com/ If you sign up I will start a group for EG only members and we can see how everyone is doing.

If you have ANY questions post them here and I or my GF will answer them ASAP. She knows a lot more about it than I do hahaha.

Good Luck guys!

Ok I have decided to join, Motivation is always a good way to get something done.

So my Goal is to go from 297 which is the weight I was last week at my doctors appt to 277 or less by July 1st.

I attempted to lose weight or at least buff up some when I first moved into my apartment, but its hard to be able to go to the store and buy foods that are healthy, mainly because I only have 100-120 dollars to spend at the store to be able to last 2 weeks until I am able to go back, so I have to get stuff that is filling, cheap, and will last for a couple of days: (hot pockets, chips, chef boyardee, and so forth) I am probally about to go to the store with in the next couple of days so I will see what I can find.

Now that I work back at the hospital and can walk 10 miles or more in a 8 hour shift, it is starting to help, I also need to look into their weight room since I know some co-workers that use the Wellness center and its pretty cheap, so I might be a good idea to start going after school or before school.

I am just going to have to start watching what I eat alot more, and getting back into my weight lifting program that I had going, but just stopped one night and never got back into it.

I guess Ill have to see how it goes.

AWESOME!

Here are a few things. At that weight you will be able to probably actually lose more than 20 lbs. I really would like it if you shot for 267 mailman. I really really think you could do that. Especially if you got on an awesome weight training program. I really thing you can do it. Think about it.

I just edited my post, but if I can get into a program I think I can lose more than I want.

This just might be me, but I have never owned a scale, hated them with a passion, its like you get on it and it just makes you feel bad. Only time I know my weight is when I go to my doctor, and that is one thing that made me want to lose weight is that I was SHOCKED that I weighed almost 300, but didnt feel like I weighed that much, I thought I was around 280 or so.

I felt that way too. I'm a small guy, always have been so when i started lifting a lot and eating a lot I was getting a lot stronger, I felt good, but didn't look the best, but I didn't care cause I could out lift a lot of other guys. Really hit me when I hopped on the scale and saw I gained almost 10lbs. Even though its muscle still doesn't feel right when your looking at the scale haha.

^Haggard said you could do either.

I'm in too I guess. I'm at 229 and I want to get down to about 180 or so. But for this deal I'll go for 200.
I've been going to the gym and shit. So I already started to lose weight. About 20 pounds already. I just don't like counting calories and looking at the scale too much. SO we'll see how this goes.

I'm going to be starting a regimen of healthier eating (already working on that) and exercise as soon as it gets warm enough that the ice goes away so I can walk/jog/run outside without hurting myself. I'll start weights shortly after that and keep increasing my volume of activity on a weekly basis while I try to keep track of what I do in a notebook.

I'd join you in this but I'm going to keep away from numbers for a while when I begin this, it'll be easier for me to continue on a regular basis and make it a solid part of my day. Good luck to you all on this challenge, though.

I know what you mean Eronios. It's hard to lose weight when you counting all this stuff.

That and I over-think just about everything. If I think about something too much, it loses all value to me personally and I end up not caring about it anymore...which I absolutely cannot let happen this time.

Add to that the fact that I always have a song in my head (from the time I wake up until I'm drifting off to sleep) and it's a wonder I'm able to pay attention to anything I do.

Dunno how to give a damn.

« Reply #13 on: March 13, 2009, 08:32:46 PM »

I believe I feel comfortable with my weight (185 lbs as of yesterday), but I also think I could drop a few pounds if I worked hard at it. Until I deem it necessary to drop some weight, I'm gonna continue to work on my arms and abdominal region just to strengthen them.

Good luck dudes, and I believe that the more fun you have at losing weight, the faster it will drop.
