I'd be interested to see just how many people like third person gaming over first person?

I like both, I really don't have a problem with unless it sucks to much.

for high paced games like COD and Halo then its FPS but when it comes to gears which to me is a little slower paced then the 3rd person works well.

and the def both for a rpg.

I like third person but first person has its advantages in certain situations, so a choice of both is best.

I prefer the choice but like to occasionally use third person. I hate third person for normal gaming though.

It depends entirely on the game's genre. If it's a shooter, then it should be in first-person. If it's an RPG like Oblivion, there should be a choice. If it's an RPG like Knights of the Old Republic, it should be third-person. Third-person shooters are too inaccurate unless there's an aim assist/sticky reticule...in which case, you're not really playing based on skill.

LOL... that's it ENTIRELY... I don't mind the sticky reticule on third person because the aiming is totally crap. Too Human or KOTOR is fine for aiming that way... but why do it for first person. Sticky reticule should be third person only.

pretty much all i play are shooters, so i picked option 1.
i just dont like 3ps. gears, lost planet, anything third person sucks for me.

even when i have the option in fallout or oblivion, i choose 1st.
i just like it better that way.

It depends on the game, if the game revolves around aiming then first person. If the game revolves around moves and tactics then third person. It would be nice if Cod4 had a 3rd person option.

The problem with third person is that it's a cheat in that it lets you see around and over walls.

Oh and COD5 DOES have 3rd person....

... well it does when you drive the tank... I hate that the tank driver can see way too much when a real tank driver would only be able to see through his viewing prisms. It should be driving prism for normal and when you hold the left trigger it should show you the turret prism for aiming the main and coaxial gun.

I kinda like both. But I picked 1st person because some of my favorite games are 1st person. Portal, Far Cry2...

I chose third and first person shooters. I like the third person combat system in Mass Effect (although Gears is the same, I hate that game) and if I want a fast-paced game, I'd choose something in first person.

Can't choose really. Most times it depends on the game. I mean i love fps cause it just feels comfortable and more immersed into the game BUT without 3rd person it can be ruined or the game just wouldn't have it.
Like i would see no necessary reason to have 3rd person in COD4. But i don't agree games should just have both.
