my god they've been churning out these mediocre NFS games since the next gen hit the market.

i'm not holding my breath, but it does look really nice.

The last NFS was a really laggy low framerate POS... so it probably will be "NFS: SHIFT" with the "F" missing.

My favourite is still NFS: Most Wanted.

Need for Speed used to keep it real, and stayed on the streets. Now it's not that interesting. THere's better pro racing games anyway. Forza 2!  Grin

When many people think of NFS, they think of illegal street racing, cars more finely tuned than Jimi Hendrix's guitar, and doing whatever it takes to win gold, no matter how reckless someone become (The Fast and Furious series and earlier things contributed as well). I think the devs behind this installment wanna change up by actually adding a story:

(An amateur-to-pro story... this game would be about a young man inspiring to become someone famous and he wants to leave the life of illegal street racing behind[he does this by racing illegally still], but his friends prevent that from happening by discouraging such notions, but someone famous from the pro-circuit that happens to have a story similar to the protagonist's catches him before he makes the mistake of his life and offers a better life that includes the young man's need for speed: pro-circuit racing. Of course he starts small, but eventually gets to the big leagues and begins racing against pros equally talented and used to do illegal stuff before they too were recruited. The protagonist makes enemies, and the recruiter being the main antagonist all along, and you must defeat him and win his pink slip or make him fatally crash, the player's call.) Of course, I'm making this up as I'm typing along.

Racing and FPS games have one thing in common: they don't need a good storyline, or any storyline for that matter. All you need to know that both genres of games are action packed... fast cars, hot women/big guns, lots of explosions.
