Shhh. My common sense is tingling.

« on: April 18, 2009, 05:40:06 PM »

The playoffs start today. I think the two teams that will meet in the Finals will be the Cavaliers and the Lakers.

Cavaliers: They've done it all this season with LeBron James leading the charge. The only thing I think that will screw them up is if they start Ben Wallace because Anderson Varejao has been playing at a different level since he started.
Pistons: A.I. is being a little bitch and the team overall lost a lot when they traded Chauncey Billups, but they're still a championship experienced team. I think they're the real wild card this time around.

Magic: They keep failing to get the ball to Dwight Howard in the 4th quarter, which is what they've needed to do more in the regular season.
76ers: I don't see them advancing beyond the Magic, I don't think the two Andres can pull it off.

Celtics: Lost their best defensive player with Kevin Garnett out because of his knee. Glen Davis and Leon Powe have been playing good basketball, but they can't replace Garnett.
Bulls: They're just happy to be in the playoffs.

Hawks: They've played pretty well all season but they're up against the league scorer in the first round. If they can contain Dwayne Wade, they'll move on.
Heat: Dwayne Wade. I don't need to say anything else.

I haven't followed the western conference as much but I think the team that has the best shot at knocking the Lakers off is the Denver Nuggets. Maybe the Rockets because they've excelled without McGrady, but I think it'll come down to the Lakers/Nuggets and I see Kobe moving on. I want the Cavs to win it all but they're really going to be put to the test if they face the Lakers, who beat them in both regular season meetings.

It would be nice to see Dallas get into the finals. But I doubt it'll happen...

Well, Dallas moved on to a bit of surprise. And the Celtics/Bulls series was simply amazing, I haven't seen such an exciting series (and I watched the '90s Bulls almost all the time) before and I really wanted the Bulls to win and completely upset the defending champs. But alas, we'll just have to settle with the highlight reel of Joakim Noah stealing the ball from Paul Pierce in Game 6 and taking it all the way down the court to slam it one-handed and get the foul shot. Also Rondo's hand to Brad Miller's face and him tossing Kirk Hinrich into the announcer's table...and he didn't get a Flagrant 2! I can't believe that, his intention was to throw Hinrich out of his way and the refs only called a Flagrant 1.

Other then that, the playoffs turned out just about how the seeds indicated they would.

Going for Orlando and Denver.

As long as the Fakers don't get into the finals, I won't care who wins.

I just hate how the NBA is fixed and the refs show so much favoritism to LeBron and Kobe.  Once David Stern is gone and the NBA officiated organization has a complete overhaul, I'll be a real fan of the NBA. Angry

The favoritism toward LeBron is the fact that he can get in the paint so easily and create the contact needed for the refs to call a foul. Plus the defensive circle has helped out amazingly in that regard...and his crab dribble (which more often then not is a travel)...and he's also a pretty decent actor when he initiates the contact.
