Seems like the original iPhone is dropping in price to $99 while the iPhone S (for speed) is going for $199 for an 8gb model and $299 for a 16gb model.

It's overpriced when you look at the cost of the mobile plans that come with it. Then there is the fact that they lock the phone to a specified carrier. The only way to get an official unlocked iPhone is to get one from France where they ban locked phones and man are they expensive there.

The good thing about the iPhone is that it is something that other phone companies have tried to beat for usability and have yet to reach the old version of the iPhone... so it's gonna be an uphill struggle to get an iPhone S killer... I'm still happy with my LG KC550 though as it does everything I want and I have it on a pay-as-you-go plan with excellent credit tripling from Tesco in the UK. Pay for £15 of credit and you get that plus another £30 which has to be used within a month. So I can use that £30 credit and still have my £15 credit left over.

Now if I got an iPhone I would have to pay £35 per month. See the difference? Hence why I agree that it's still too expensive.

right now ive got a nokia e71x on att, and theyve got this thing where you have up to a month with your phone before you can bring it back and get a different one. and as much as im loving this phone, with this price drop on the iphone 3g it puts it at the same price as what we payed for my phone. so im seriously considering going and takin back my phone and getting an iphone.

idk what im gonna do. its like 20 bucks for a "restocking" fee, so idk.

I'm like... "WTF?... Do I need to take out a freakin loan just to get an iPhone?" I was considering getting an iPhone at one point but then found out using the phone I have ends up really cheap compared to the iPhone overpriced stuff. I might get an iPod Touch instead.

Yeah... it's just the cost of the thing that is what is such bull.  It's the same in the US with AT&T. You could buy a cheap car for the price of a iPhone 3GS upgrade.
