Dude... you gotta read John Ringo's "Looking Glass" series.

The series is (so far) "Into the Looking Glass", "Vorpal Blade" (where it REALLY gets freakin cool and you meet Two Gun Berg for the first time), "Manxome Foe" and "Claws that Catch".

http://www.johnringo.com/Books/IntotheLookingGlassSeries/tabid/1841/Default.aspx

Seriously, this guy writes bloody good books (I've read scifi for years and this guy is my favourite by far). They are definately page turners if you are into military scifi.

I read you Enders Game series... all of them... if you liked that you should like these. Oh and Ringo's humour is spot on.

I haven't read a book since April of '08 because the last book I read influenced my writing way too much but I do have a list of books I'm going to pick up when I'm done with my trilogy.

Into the Wild
The Mulching of America
Blindness
In Cold Blood
The Road
The City of Dreaming Books
The Book of Flying
Empire Falls
Straight Man

My first recommendation is The Road, second is Empire Falls.

Read a tom clancy book.

Read Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy and then you will understand where the Rainbow games actually come from. The year that was released was when the first Rainbow game came out. Rainbow is the name of the anti-terrorist group and a "Six" is the group leader. I loved that first game as it allowed you to be Six and plan the entry. You then let the team do the plan and you can watch them and see what works and what doesn't. Multi-door entries and silenced MP5's and heartbeat detectors... it was bloody wonderful.

So yeah I enjoy Tom Clancy books except for his crappy last one which was a cliffhanger and he never wrote any more in the series.

Read a tom clancy book.

or, read a good book, with innovative ideas..

(COUGH HOUSE OF LEAVES COUGH I AM COUGHING)

clancy is okay, but after maddox pointed out that he just re-hashes the same 4 ideas.. i can't read anymore of his work.

I don't see four hashed ideas... I've read every TC fiction book out there and love the Jack Ryan and John Clark/Kelly storylines.

Also there are some really insightful points in his books. In the Bear and the Dragon the Americans come to Russia's aid against the Chinese. The Americans use drones to spot the Chinese tanks and then call in a "magic pig" (JSOW - Joint Stand Off Weapon) and the bombs drops and seperatates and each bomblet chooses its own target tank and just one aircraft's bomb drop takes out 24 of the Chinese tanks and the Russian watching the take from the drone says "And we thought we could win against the Americans? We must have been crazy!" Cheesy

The Harry Potter books aren't that bad actually. My sister got me into reading them (in fact she nagged me to read the first one and I just had to read the rest because I enjoyed the first one).

The HP books are good but there are better books out there. I'm glad that Rowling was able to tell such an intricate story without getting entirely lost because that means there's a new generation of kids who grew up on books instead of just movies and video games.

Did you know that some kids had to have psychologist treatment because there were no more Harry Potter books. They were calling it a type of bereavement counselling.

Tom Clancy is bad. He tries to do to much in his books, the first first first FIRST rainbow six book was awesome, after that, it was like trying to shove your first into a donut.

I might check out that house of leaves, looks interesting.

Harry Potter books are pretty good, finished the series in about 3 weeks. couldnt put those books down haha, but they were decent, nothing I would read over and over though.

and Neo that looking glass series looks pretty bloody awesome, I think i might pick up the first of that series soon.
