Honestly, they all looked mediocre to me.

Muramasa looks like it has hit detection issues and you can't always see what's going on thanks to the foreground. SC is fighting and I don't give much notice to fighting games. Section 8 look like the Battlefield series but in the future...oh, wait, that was already done. F/U C is...hilarious when shortened, but even though I just got finished watching F/S N last week, this game still looks like a regular fighting game with F/S N characters.

No, I haven't tried the demo because the gameplay vids all looked like it was going to be another Battlefield. But I'm also hesitant about trying anything more intensive than L4D until I get a new vid card, PSU, and finally swap HDDs.

Seriously dude, Section 8 is really good fun. The mini missions make it different as do the spawning system (ie NO SPAWN KILLING). They way they do the spawn is you drop from orbit and you can choose ANYWHERE on the map that is not protected by AA guns.

Here is one tactic... 2 players drop in near the enemy base and take out the AA guns with rockets. Then other team members can drop directly into the base to assault it. While the new members are incoming from orbit your 2 artillery guys who took out the AA guns have taken out the sensor net too so the enemy don't know where you are if you are out of sight. When you manage to finally take the base you repair the AA guns to stop the enemy dropping in.

You can also get equipment dropped from orbit... earn enough $ and you can get ressuply points, minigun turrets and even a BIGGER set of heavy armour dropped in. In the full game you will be able to get other things like more AA guns (only 3 deployables per person though) and other stuff I don't know about.

It's battlefield alright but with a good spawn system, great controls, awesome weaponry, brilliant mini-missions, extra weaponry dropped from orbit and above all a really great game to play. From the demo I would give it a 9/10 and you know how I really piss and moan about some games. This one seems to have a bunch of new, unique perspectives that make it actually flow better than other games. No mysteriously fading in spawns... they just drop in a fireball from orbit.

Oh and the drop from orbit is cool as you can choose where you want to drop but then there is a point where you can fire braking thrusters and then choose where you want to drift in a cone around your chosen drop point. For instance you can aim so you are outside the area of the AA gun coverage and then brake and float into the AA zone and only lose a portion of your shields but get into a base a lot quicker. Alternatively you can send in a sacrifice into the AA zone and as the guns are shooting at him they aren't shooting at anyone else so if you drop like a second AFTER the suicide jumper you have a chance to drop right into the base on the opposite side the sacrifice was aiming for. I've done it in the demo and it definately works (ie I let the AI jump in first and let them get blown to shreds).

Watching the AA gun hit a dropping soldier from the ground is awesome too... You see and hear this roar of the incoming fireball and the black puffs of the AA gun rounds and the BOOM... the soldier explodes and there are parts falling in an arc from the impact.

This game is going to do wonders for tactics... SO many different options to chose. You can have a slot that has an assault rifle and a sniper rifle or machine gun and shotgun... you aren't limited to what you want to carry. The accessory equipment is the same... Multiple options to choose from.

Yeah... can you tell I'm excited by this title? Cheesy

DAMNIT!

Section 8 isn't released in the UK until the 11th... I was going to trade in Arkham Asyum while it is hot... Sad
