Another frickin gobsmack of a NeoJinx.
So I'm reversing back across my drive at about 2mph and the taillight nudges an EMPTY wheelie bin... AND IT BREAKS MY TAILLIGHT!. So now it's over £50 to get it replaced ($83 in US money).
Bah! This damned car eally IS jinxed because every bump that has happened to it has happened when I parked across my drive to save time as I am going out later on. It's been hit by vans, scratched, dented... and it's not 2 years old.
Really depressing as I could have afforded it before I drove out to the DIY store. Now I gotta save up again. I can't believe that a nudge at 2mph could cause the damned thing to break so easily.
Perhaps I should just get an APC instead!

There are so many reasons not to do that I don't even know where to start
****ing eco friendly, my ass - they produce more CO2 making the damn thing than my car will ever produce running yet I have to pay £220+ a year in flipping road tax!!!!!!
Every time I overtake one of those I like to do it flat out in second gear so the stupid lentil munching eco warrior can actually HEAR me hurting the environment!

Using those parking sensors wouldn't help as I KNEW the EMPTY bin was there.
I can pick one of those bins up with one hand when they are empty. I just don't understand why a low impact, plastic to plastic contact could cause what looks like a bullet hit the damned thing. I was going so slow that a BABY could crawl out of the way.
The big problem is that I let my neighbour put their wheelie bins next to my fence... but then they got one more grey bin, then got it replaced with a double sized bin, then got another green (recycle bin) one so two normal sized bins got replaced by four. I should be angry but the neighbour has said they would help move my gates further out and only charge for the posts needed as they are doing their fence at the same time... oh and it was my fault for saying they could put their bins there in the first place...
Oh well... that's life I guess... This poor car has suffered loads of exterior damage due to stupid things... scratches, windows knocked out, more scratches, taillight smashed... This is why I think that cars are made too delicate these days. Look at the Model T Ford... thing was a tank and could take a lot more punishment heh. Today it's too much plastic, plastic, plastic. They should make a rubberised covering for taillights imho.

I agree with Skud, also the Prius is a very ugly looking car. They are cars for celebs and people who think they look good for helping the enviroment, which they arn't. If you really want to help the enviroment get a car like the G-wiz, but you look like a complete burke in it, or get a tesla, not that is an electric car I could live with because it's a good car and looks good.

Forget electric cars. The want everyone needs to push are the hydrogen cars. Honda have one but i can't remember what it is called.

Clarity I think, though has a very similar design as a prius, so doesn't look very nice. And at the moment anyway hydrogen costs more then petrol, and is only used in a few places, Calafornia is the only one I can think of at the moment.

Who said 4mph?
I was going at less than walking speed (my walking speed at that). That's why I was so damned astonished at the light going like that.

LOL Sniper... My very first bike was a Honda CB125 back in the 70's. Tough as a rock (indeed I bounced it off the side of a corner Pub the one time after this ditzy woman driver ran me off the road as she didn't even see me) and I picked it up off the ground and it kicked over first time... handlebars were a little bent though heh.
One thing I really miss is bike riding but my advice is get on a good motorcycle course and don't just do the minimum to pass your test. It will most likely save your life at some point. "Always drive defensively" is what my police instructor told me (I did the old Police ran course as I had a friend in the local Constabulary and he was an avid bike rider as well). Served me well (even when I got ran off the road it could have been much worse. Never ride with trainers (ick, you should see what a foot looks like if you come off and goes through rear wheel) and always wear leather jackets (saved my left arm that day as I hit the road on my left side).
Other than that... bikes are economical, efficient (especially in heavy traffic) and damned cool to boot. Remember you safety rules and you will have many years of safe driving.
I remember one ironic thing happen though... I was in hospital after an op on my leg the one time and a biker buddy came up to visit me... He was in more bandages that I was...
"Dude, what the hell happened to you?"
"Well I was coming up the road to the hospital and swerved to avoid an ambulance and went over a wall and my bikes trashed! but at least I was near to the hospital to get fixed up."

Whole suits of leathers are excellent. I was on the back of my mates bike when he did a wheelie at about 40mph and I fell off the back and was sliding down the bloody road on my arse. Other then it getting a little warm around the bum I was fine and got up and gave my mate a right rollocking as if it hadn't happened. Totally bolloxed up my helmet though (remember that if you so much as scratch your helmet that it's advisable to replace it - My instructor had me bring my old one in and had a look at it and then showed me why... he tapped it with a hammer and the bloody thing split in two).
