If you have played the original you will be hard pressed to detect that you are in the sequel. I would have expected the place to be more rundown tbh, with a lot more damage in the years that have gone by without any maintenance.

That said, it's still creepy as hell... but it's what I would have expected as more of a DLC expansion than a new game. The character models are better though... but more in way of a Manga cartoon than something like Mass Effect for some reason. Still enjoying trying to figure out why the hell some things pan out the way they did...

Bioshock 1 spoiler warning

One thing about the original that really bothered me was the meeting with Andrew Ryan himself... You obeyed the commands he gave... BEFORE HE SAID "Would you kindly". I would have thought you would ignore him UNTIL he said those three words. Then when you kill him I don't know whether he was trying to get me to kill him or get me to break out of my conditioning. It was really unclear at that point.

One thing I hate in Bioshock 2 though is the damned aiming. There is a delay from when you fire and when you ACTUALLY fire. With the Splicer moving so damned quick and sometimes they can change direction from one frame to the next I find I miss a load more shots than I should do.

I'm beginning to see why the price dropped twice in the last couple of months... and why the reviews haven't been kind to it... But I still want to see what the hell is going on in Rapture in the same year that Man set foot on the moon.

''Haven't been kind to it'"?

It's been getting 8.5 and above! That's pretty good.

The reviews I've read have said things like "Bioshock didn't need a sequel". Guess I didn't read the right ones lol.

Still, like I said, it's still an interesting game.

The one thing I HATE about this game is the bloody aim lag... IT IS SO ****ING ANNOYING!

If the enemy models displayed SOME inertia it would help... but it's trying to predict the direction an enemy goes to lead the shot is pathetic. They can be running in one direction so you lead them and then they do a 90 or 180 degree turn and you miss by miles... let alone in the fact that you fire about half a second AFTER you pull the trigger.

In comparison to Bioshock 1 the aiming is really shite.

Then there is the difficulty level. Normal in this game is like hardcore in the previous one. WHY THE **** CAN'T THEY GET DIFFICULTY RIGHT IN THESE GAMES. If they had the difficulty like the original but with the aiming lag it would be OK. If they had the newer difficulty with the aim response of the original it would be fine. Add both the new hard difficulty and the aiming lag and it's a bunch of shite.

For example, a single hit from the Big Daddy enemy and guess what... 95% of your health vanishes. You hit the enemy BD and guess what... about 4% of his health vanishes. It's like the BD I'm playing is a total WIMP! Even enemy splicers do more damage to me that I can do to them.

Have to say, this is a renter.

Well it's going back tomorrow. I just don't care is the main problem. Finding it hard to get into the story and it does not feel like a sequel at all. Might as well be the same damn game.

Hence why I said 1.2 instead of 2.0.

Unlike myself who only bitches a wee bit, some of you guys on here do nothing but bitch about games.

I hate Mass Effect/2, Borderlands and the like.  Gay.

I bitch about games that lose their way and are not finished before release... Mass Effect though is fookin awesome in comparison to some of these sequels that are coming out.

For example, would you buy a car that looks pretty much like last years model but has nicer stickers on the side and a spoiler but when you take delivery you find that the car stalls every so often, has no mirrors and speedo (but it's only just been release so we should give the developer time to sort these out) and will be adding the back and passenger seats at a later time but you have to pay more for them.

Ooops... didn't think so... Would you moan about it... HELL YES!

This is the state the gaming industry is in atm. Unfinished games and then releasing the missing bits as DLC (Just look at Ass Creed 2 for example... those two missing bits should have been FREE and not DLC... they are part of the original game that wasn't completed after all).

And going back to Bioshock 1.2, the game could be 1.0 DLC rather than an extra game in itself. The game isn't bad, it just isn't new enough and the story is kind of boring... it doesn't drag you in like ME2 or Dragon Age does.

i like it.. i dont have aim lag and i think the difficulty is fine. how ever its not as good as the first because rapture just doesnt feel as creepy as when your a vulnerable stranger. i mean im big daddy. im just wandering through on normal difficulty stomping splicers. they do take the energy down put there is that much money and aid about it doesnt matter..
i even smashed the big sister with no problems using electro bolt and heavy duty rivets in a hopped up rivet gun.
i still hold hope but i need some creepy back. i need to loose the all powerful suit.

I don't feel it is an all powerful suit... dunno if there is something different here.

A friend of mine seems to think that using component instead of HDMI and having a plasma that has a slight delay on top is what is causing some of my lag issues as he sees the lag on my setup but not his... I went around and used his current generation setup and I have to agree... even MW2 doesn't seem as laggy either... and we are both on the same UBR (cable modem main box outside) on the very same cable broadband 20mb package.

Seems I really need to upgrade my hardware... Sad

Still, we both agree there is some extra delay in the time taken from when you press the trigger and you fire in comparison to BS1.

Wait until you finish the game though dude... The ending is great though sad... reminded me of the finale to Dollhouse in a way. That is if you do the save rather than harvest method... doing a run through on ebil monster harvester now... I hate that though... I just want to see the difference.

Oh and have you noticed that Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2 have similar beginnings heh. Weird...

Unfortunatley I have very little cash atm... As all I get is my disability payments I don't have much to play with. Just spent nearly £300 on a new memory foam mattress to ease my damned back and hips... well worth every damned penny though. Last night I had the best nights sleep in years.

I think that my next thing is to get a new flatscreen. This one is 5 years old now and not even full HD. It also only has one HDMI socket. I wonder what I should go for to replace it. Current one is 43" so it would have to be either a 42" or a 50"... plasma or LCD is the question though.

Have you seen you can get 3D TV's now (or soon this year). Have to have special specs to go with them (something about active shutters on the glasses). Won't be able to afford one of those for many years yet... but after watching Avatar in 3D I am now wishing I did have the money. 3D rocks (and it is not just a gimmick either).

Completed it this morning. Do not get into the story at all. Boring and seemed to simple, not even a cool twist like the first one. Boring plus more boring.

I don't understand what you considered great Neo.
