So after playing it for the first time yesterday, I like.  Jumped into a few Conquest multiplayer games and did decent.  I like the maps that I've seen (snow and water/broken bridge map).  I was surprised that when I went online, there weren't many games that were full.  One game I was the only one vs. 3 other ppl.  Enemies seem to go down faster than in Demo.

Also started the campaign.  I like the story so far.  Feels authentic.  Sounds authentic.

You're still the same rag tag cussing funny bunch, but it's all new.  I'm real early in the campaign, but this game is about linking the past (WWII) to today.  

Super Japanese Black Weapon?  You start off in WWII on a secret ops mission flashback.

Online: I haven't been doing too good, but I really don't want to focus on my stats in this game. The maps are pretty fun, yet sometimes I just get bored of going to the same objectives because of the fact that my team isn't doing anything. I think they should of had at least one more objective game mode then Rush or Conquest.

Single Player: I don't know about you guys, but that was probably the worst intro mission I've ever played in a game. I don't want to say that it wasn't needed because I haven't finished the story yet, but I thought it was pointless and unrealistic.

I don't believe that Jap soldiers wouldn't hear you start your boat engine back up RIGHT after you go under the bridge. Also I love how Sqaud A died in 2 seconds from the guy on the turret, but yet we don't even get hit.

Also, I found this happening several times where all I hear are my squad mates in single player making these corny ass jokes and saying how they are killing all these people, when yet I run back to them and they are just behind cover in a circle talking when I'm the one shooting everyone, and the best part is, is that they aren't even firing their guns. Then once everyones dead they run up saying how they did a good job at killing all them.  Angry

Is it me or does Haggard not sound much like Haggard anymore... His accent seems different.

I just got up to Heart of Darkness and had to pack in which is peeing me off... bloody migraine again! Game arrives and I only get to play a couple of maps... typical.

Also, anyone else notice that the VIP map is already available... didn't have to download it... I R confused! OTDC instead of DLC?

Played some MP, loved it. Thompson kicks arse, I was mowing loads of people down with it, got killed once and saw one person pick it up to see what it was and use it, must of been annoyed that it only had about ten rounds left.

My last game, me and another guy snuck into the attackers base, I left with a light tank, he left with a blackhawk. All they had left was a quad.  Applaud

And no lag, it was great, far better then the demo, also mean it's much much much much better then MW2.

In fact I have found squeezing a single round out of a full auto weapon gave me a perfect headshot kill most of the time... You have to wait a little while though because the BC2 actors are the WORST... they take forever to fall over dead, instead they ham it up before falling to the floor. One round through the face will drop anyone it seems... just takes a while for the buggers to finish auditioning for the "death scene of the year" award.

Yeah, I don't know what it is.  Maybe my controller?  Not sure, because I played a little bit longer and it happened a few more times - what was happening was I was squeezing the trigger on the controller, and the gun wouldn't fire... so I had to squeeze it a second time to allow it to fire.

I hadn't fired a shot before, so I didn't need to let off the zoom to reload.

It did it a couple of times w/the XM8, tried to hit a sniper by firing single rounds, the hit box for the head is way small.  If I wasn't hitting him in the head then I did a damn good job of shooting his ears off. Cheesy

And to be honest, I think MW2's graphics (especially the cinematics) are better than BFBC2.  Seems they kind of half-assed it this time, but that's just me.

The only other complaint I have about it is the ability to turn when sprinting... If I'm sprinting and want to make a turn, the dude just misses where I'm turning completely - sometimes he even drifts when sprinting in a straight line... and the smallest bumps, etc. stop him (worse than the damn car snag on MW/MW2).

WEll tbh, if the graphics were very good, the ever changing envrioment would most likely affect frame rate.

And sprinting, I like to see someone sprinting at full speed to turn tightly. Stopping from sprinting can be annoying in BF I will admit, but I found it more annoying in BC1, it's better in 2.

And not firing, there was a strange bug in BC where the gun sometimes didn't fire straight away, or the gun fired, but bullets were invisible.

That sprinting thing really got to me at first... then I just realised I only needed to sprint when under fire... trotting along was just as good and has the added bonus of not running into fire.

The graphics side of it I am freakin GLAD it isn't as detailed as MW2... why?... because as Guyyug said, GRAPHICAL LAG... I bet most of MW2's lag problems are due to rendering problems. I would rather a good, responsive game than a pretty game that lags like a bitch and has "NO WAY, I SHOT THE SHIT OUT OF HIM.... SO WHY DID I DIE" every five minutes.... or less.

This is where IW got it wrong... they went the eye-candy way... and eye-candy that is static too. If I want to look at pretty pictures I will go to the library. I prefer INTERACTING with the environment... I want a big explosion to flatten a building and not have banana leaves that can stop bullets like in MW2. Seriously, I bet that is why the top two IW bods got sacked... they supplied a SUB-STANDARD GAME and then asked for more money from the users on top of that insult... that is real frickin cheek, I can tell you.

No, MW2 is laggy because they put too much detail in and the 360 can't handle it... therefore we get that 2 second of built in lag it seem... the lag that hits even when everyone in the server is on solid 4 bars.

Dunno... What would you prefer... Lowering of the graphic detail slightly and destructible environment vs eye-candy static environment. That's the choice. Me, I'll take gameplay over eye-candy anyday.

Oh and there is one thing that I REALLY love about Bad Company 2... FLYNN!

Flynn and Haggard had me laughing my socks off when Flynn lets Hags know that he is a pacifist. Haggard pretty much has a coronary he is so worked up about it lol.

I haven't got stuck into the simgle player yet but I love the multiplayer.

It's a bit weird to get used to the new maps, the conquests maps seem bigger but the rush ones seem smaller. The night snow level is my favourite so far as the first base is manic. You get attacked from everywhere.

Sadly though we are plagued by morons. Hopefully they will all leave soon and we can enjoy the game properly rather than being handicapped by idiots. I am sick of hurling myslef into the meat grinder trying to get the crate.

I did get the dentist achievement though which was awesome.

PS. Alpine regardless of what I said about your tactics. I would trade half my good damn team for a sniper who could actually hit someone!  Tongue

There was this one guy in single player I just COULDN'T seem to hit so I ran up to him and whacked him in the face with my rifle heh... worked surprisingly well too. Cheesy

Also I have NO idea what the hell I am supposed to do on the desert mission because I keep getting raped by this Havoc with no anti-air missile launcher available. The Charlie-G is totally useless for AA work and machine guns don't damage the bloody helos now. Not impressed to say the least.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Also I have NO idea what the hell I am supposed to do on the desert mission because I keep getting raped by this Havoc with no anti-air missile launcher available. The Charlie-G is totally useless for AA work and machine guns don't damage the bloody helos now. Not impressed to say the least.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I only did it on normal difficulty, but there should be a supply crate near by.  I picked the RPG from that and waited until the helicopter hovered for a moment and then drilled it.

If you're playing on hardened, it might not be as easy, but that's all I did.  I took cover whenever it was not hovering.

So, I finished SP.  It wasn't as good as the first, but still entertaining.

MP is utterly ridiculous.  Half the time I'm being spawn killed, the other half I can't even spawn (to start the game) because the helicopters are just spawn camping us.

How is that even fair?  This is precisely why I hate vehicles.  It's not possible to hit them w/the RPG, as they're moving far too fast to even lead the target.

The few times I've been able to get out, it was fun, but that's few and far between.  4/10 on MP for me, until this spawn camping and spawn killing is fixed.  /rant  Angry



Edit:  I had a few games that went pretty good after this, then I hit another string where I died 8-15 times/game and 95% of it was from spawn kills. Roll Eyes

I'm debating whether or not to return/sell this game.  There are some fun things about it, but the very first MP game I played I wanted to throw my controller at my television it was so frustrating.

Maybe I'll sleep on it and see how it goes tomorrow.

How comes when it comes down to it, I rarely have any problems, I played a good number of conquest games last night, most of them being in the top three with two friends, we dominated. On foot, in tanks or in the air. I've also come to love the gustav rocket launcher, travels faster then the RPG making it better against choppers and fast moved armoured cars, and the blast radius for infantry. Trade off though, not as damageing against tanks.

BC1 SP was better then BC2, BC1 was more open with it's levels, and I enjoyed driving a tank everywhere there.

I can SEE the supply crate but can't GET to it...

I'm also still bothered by the fact that I'm confused as to how the slackabouts with gold got changed into Special Activities Division (SAD lol) with no gold. It's like Sweetwater is having a dream or something.

Also I am STILL hating that Haggard doesn't sound like Haggard most of the time... it's like they have two actors doing the same character (one with a thick redneck accent and one not).

Well I have to say, I'm not particularly enjoying the single player atm. The psychic AI is pissing me off to say the least.

Also I have NO idea what the hell I am supposed to do on the desert mission because I keep getting raped by this Havoc with no anti-air missile launcher available. The Charlie-G is totally useless for AA work and machine guns don't damage the bloody helos now. Not impressed to say the least.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I only did it on normal difficulty, but there should be a supply crate near by.  I picked the RPG from that and waited until the helicopter hovered for a moment and then drilled it.

If you're playing on hardened, it might not be as easy, but that's all I did.  I took cover whenever it was not hovering.

I can SEE the supply crate but can't GET to it...

I'm also still bothered by the fact that I'm confused as to how the slackabouts with gold got changed into Special Activities Division (SAD lol) with no gold. It's like Sweetwater is having a dream or something.

Also I am STILL hating that Haggard doesn't sound like Haggard most of the time... it's like they have two actors doing the same character (one with a thick redneck accent and one not).

Are you talking about the one where you're in the fort?  That supply crate is up some stares.  What you have to do is go back from where the chopper is, down the hallway until you get right next to the supply crate on the map - there's a stair case there that you go up and the supply crate is up under a balcony-type thing.

You are right... I stared at it for AGES because I couldn't get to it.  Cheesy

Seriously though... cheers... no wonder I couldn't find it.

I did come across one real bug though... When you get the sniper rifle for the first time it didn't spawn any bad guys and Haggard didn't say anything as to where they were. I looked all over the place and didn't see ANYONE at all. Reloaded though and they appeared. That's been my only problem with the game.

But serious Haggs is really putting me on a downer. That was what made BC1 SP such fun. Also Guyyug is right about the previous maps being more open. Hell, on this one mission where you are going through the bombed out town I was told I was leaving the map... WHEN I WENT FROM ONE ROOM OF A HOUSE TO THE NEXT.... seriously, the sp is crap compared to BC1.

Still a frustrating game, but I'm starting to hang back a bit from the rushers on the team, which leads to less dying and less spawn killing.

Also, I need some way to range targets - I need a spotter, haha.  There was a guy up on a hill, standing in clear view all the way across the map.  I had the 12x scope, I still couldn't hit him no matter where I tried to range it via my own scope... I couldn't see where my bullets were hitting.  So I just called a mortar strike on him. Tongue  Still, would be nice to have a better way to do that, rather than guessing.

It was going completely fine today online until about 6pm, then the servers screwed up. Thing is people were leaving but no replacement, it ended up with eight vs one. IN the end me and my friend ditched it and found it impossible to find a game and I ended up in a rush game with me and my friend vs five people, we were defending. Still managed to hold them off for a good ten minutes though.  Applaud

I do love the face that they have a HC mode.

Though, it makes the motion sensors a bit more difficult to use, because you have to press start to look at the map to see exactly where they are.

It's nice though that there's a tone when it senses enemy movement.

Those bike decide to turn 90o when it hits a bloody twig... and the dust means you can't ****ing see what is coming. EPIC FAIL DICE!

Hell, I somehow managed to get sideways on a bloody rope bridge like 8 times already. The control on the bikes are just WAYYYYY too twitchy. It's like they have zero weight. Nearly won twice and both times just before the end it throws me off the bloody track for no apparent reason.

I did laugh when Sweets said "If this was a snowmobile race..." heh.

My biggest problem with the single player now is...

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BLOODY GOLD?????????

Seriously... this is like the first game didn't even exist! Oh and I was REALLY pissed off that they killed Flynn. He would have made a great addition to the BC family.

Story in BC2 is just... weak!

One other bug/nuisance that I have found (this is actually from BFBC1 as well):

When you're hiding in a bush and you try to mortar someone, the mortar strike locks on to the bush that you're in rather than where you actually pointed the damn thing...

Even if you make sure that there are no leaves of the bush in your LOS, it still will.

Frustrating as hell.

When I went back today I won the very first time I tried... then found there wasn't even a bloody achievement for it... I FELT ROBBED!  Roll Eyes

Atm my internet connection is pretty crappy so I can't even play MP... Might have a go playing it through on hard.

A nice little estimation of their distance when they are Spotted/tagged+actually hovered over would be great. I know it's not so real, but it would really help in the MP world.

Definately agree with you Neo. What happened to the gold? Serious Haggard is a real downer and the script is much less entertaining.

Oh guys the servers are down again I think. DICE simply don't have enough servers as they underestimated the traffic. It's on their blog.

Like I said... seems another title to succumb to the "Curse of the Sequels".

This was not the title I was expecting tbh... Why is it that most of these sequels have gone for a "Grittier" version... and turned them into really dismal versions of the good start.

Oh and I just remembered something... didn't the Legionairre survive the helo crash at the end of BC1?

This is like an alternate dimension version of Bad Company.

I still love this game. The multiplayer is a great improvement in nearly everyway, there are a few minor details that are perhaps not great add ons but still not taking away from the game.

The single player is a let down though. Yeah the legionaire was still alive and they got away with the gold. Sad that they abandoned that story and style. No more jazz, less jokes and a semi sensible story Sad .

Not sure how the sequel will go. Though if they do one I expect destruction 3.0 to be on the level that I can blow up the floor underneath you and really detailed mircro destruction.

You can blow up the floor in destruction 1 dude. In fact I dug out a great big sniper hole in 1943 Wake Island. I hid in the hole, popped up, took a shot and popped back down. Took ages for the enemy to figure where I was (on top of a hill heh). They then took a jeep and decapitated me at high speed heh.

No you couldn't. I didn't have the ability to walk into a building and shoot the ceiling (your floor) out from under you. So if I am damn close to the building look up about 45 degrees and fore an RPG I would take out some of the ground floor wall, some of the upper floor wall and the ceiling/floor separating the two.

So, I decided to say F K/D.  I started the medic class... now I know why I always sniped.

I tried to play rush as a medic - that will never happen again.  We were on the harbor map (desert), we got the first set and were moving towards the second, when I found I was the only one trying to advance.  I don't mind there being a lot of snipers if they are actually killing people...

There were 6-7 snipers perched up on rocks, out of the 5 minutes I was dying/waiting to go around the corner I heard three shots, maybe saw one kill. Angry  This is why I went to the lone-wolf style of play in the first place.

I started playing conquest now, and it's a bit better.  Though, it's stupid that when you start as a medic, you have no way to heal someone!  I was team killed three times by non-squad members because I wouldn't throw a med kit down, because I didn't have any yet.

I was able to explain it to the squad, but that's it. Roll Eyes

Had several great games w/this one squad where we tore it up, then they left and I had morons on my squad and I absolutely ruined my K/D, haha.  A few games similar to my worst:  2 and 7 with 5 spawn kills (we were getting spawn camped at our base Sad ).

Welcome to our pain.

I went the other way and gave sniping ago but after losing two bases in record time because no one will disarm I went back to my old assault class. For you it seems the problem is your squadmates get you raped due to their incompetance at not being able to kill a sniper and for me I get raped because I end up having to to charge and disarm objectives with a pistol and a bolt action rifle.

God I hope the retards go back to COD soon it is starting to get painful. Although I did get a triple knife kill on a squad of snipers.

Dare I say it I think our tactics might actually benefit each other  Shocked

It's possible! Cheesy  I'm kind of enjoying conquest at the moment.

I hate not being able to spam the med kits like BFBC1. Cheesy  Now you have a cooldown and can only throw one out at a time.  So not fair.

I got the defibs now, working on getting an RDS for one of the LMGs, because the iron sights suck.  Then I'll move on to the engineer class.

But this idiots managed to get me my dentist achievement. He ran into me thinking I was on his team, didn't quite see each other, went up the stairs and I drilled him in the back of the head.

The best way to enjoy BC2 is to form a squad with friends, a well organized squad can do alot of damage, as long as the rest of the team isn't moronic. But this idiots managed to get me my dentist achievement. He ran into me thinking I was on his team, didn't quite see each other, went up the stairs and I drilled him in the back of the head.

- The endings. They are all pretty lame. When they shoot rockets at the ship, it should sink instead of nothing happening to it. Or when a building gets hit by an airstrike, it shoot collapse or at least some walls should fall down. So much for total destruction eh.

- Squads. I mean its key to have a good squad but one good squad ain't going to hold up an entire team. I think that you should be able to play with more then 4 friends at the same time and they should all be in some sort of squad.

Actually, a ship is very difficult to sink, and even if it is sinking it is a slow process and can still be sinking for well over an hour.

I think you would be surprised. Defense is very hard but one decent squad on attack are lethal.

Haha, last night I was playing medic one of the jungle maps for rush.  My team was full of snipers, and we all got pinned in one spot.  I was hiding behind a pole of some sorts just throwing med kits and reviving the fallen, only for them to get shot and killed over and over.  Was so funny. 

That'll teach them to just sit and not even kill people anymore.  I think I got a total of 10 revives before the enemy finally tried to kill me (I killed him and moved on).

I'm liking the medic class a little more now.  I need a good squad though.  I don't mind if they are all snipers, but at least do something, kill enemies, whatever.  And, use the damn motion sensors!

EA/DICE still haven't got the game right as far as I am concerned. Half the time my bullets just don't register it seems. It seems strange that this happens more at short range than long range which seems to point to lag being the issue.

I'm just getting pissed off with the game because I get killed my a freakin 1911 when I have just put 3 bursts from an assault rifle into the gits body... He should be down and OUT... but it's my body that hits the floor.

Also I seem to keep getting stuck on the environment loads more than in the demo... even on the demo map. I hate going to fire and then doing the JUDDDDDDDER on a twig or something. The worst one was when I got this guy dead to rights and went to fire and then elevated about 12 foot up into the air.

When I play bad and it's my fault I admit it... when it's down to lag/poor game engine mechanics I point to that... in this case it's the latter. In fact this game twice crashed my xbox today.

Going to wait a bit longer for EA/DICE to get their arse into gear. Strange thing is that I don't remember BC1 being this bad. Sad

VSS =  Still stupid

That thing witha RDS is basically an assault rifle. If you consider yourself a proper sniper don't use it but if you do want to barrel on in it is totally the gun for you.

The game me and Guyyug were in this morning was annoying due to the poor bullet registration and an idiot with a VSS. Why they brought that over from BC1 is anyones guess.

So uh, I am trying to play, but it seems to have "lost" my information.  I'm rank 1 again and don't have any unlocks that I did before.

/sigh  Wish they'd get this figured out already - they have a message stating they're upgrading hardware tomorrow and Saturday.

Bout damn time its been out a week! (In the Uk)

Still love it though. I haven't unlocked everything yet. I've finished all the level related unlocks, assault and vehicles.

So close to finishing recon, half way through engineer and just started medic.

Don't worry about stat resets, they return to normal after awhile. When it comes to unlocks, got most of the specialization unlocks now, and all Engineer unlocks, working on assualt now. Since I'm useless at sniping, and will refuse to use the VSS, I will most likely use a shogun or G3 or something, allows me to get close, and I can use motion sensers to help everyone.

Post from the battlefield blog.

"Tomorrow, 12th March, and Saturday, 13th March at 8:00GMT/9:00 CET:12:00 (midnight) PST, EA will take the servers down, this time we will come up with even more hardware with more capacity to handle all the BFBC2 traffic. Once the maintenance is complete you will experience an improvement to your online experience.

 

This will be extended maintenance to allow the new hardware to be installed and affect all three platforms (PC, PS3 and Xbox 360).

Maintenance on Friday 12th will last for 4 hours - 8:00 GMT to 12:00 midday GMT/9:00 CET to 13:00 CET/12:00 midnight PST to 4:00 PST.

 

Since launch a week ago, BFBC2 has already put EA servers through the following stress:

    * The 4 different soldier types have gathered a score of more than 34 Billion.
    * There's been more than 400M kills made.
    * 1.3M roadkills
    * Squads and Teams have assisted each other to 6.2 Billion points.

 

Now we are adding more capacity to let you smash those numbers multiple times over in the weeks to come."

So hopefully after this weekend the game will be awesome as the servers should be fine, the COD douches should have left and a whole mess of new tactics will show up.

Know what... I'm freakin HAPPY about this... It's just what I expected from EA/DICE. This is EXACTLY what happened with 1943. Looking forward to the action now.

Had some good games after the servers came back up, no lag until my sister went on msn. Had a great moment in one game, I was on the gun on the humvee and my friend driving. A helicopter came really low down and was chasing us along the desert why I shot at him and my friend avoided the missiles, it was like something out of a film. He pulled off after awhile and then came low infront of us and I managed to shoot him down again whilst friend was avoiding being shot at. I managed to get the car award, whilst all the kills for it was whilst the humvee was moving.
