Well apparently Portal 2 is on the way and this time it's a standalone game. It's also set in a rundown version of the Aperture Science labs as it takes place several hundred years after the original. I loved the original Portal... I just hope it doesn't fall prey to the "Curse of the Sequel". http://www.mcvuk.com/news/37886/Valve-talks-Portal-2

God damn it, when will Valve announce Episode 3? Oh, and I dreaded Portal because without the videos on how to get through the game, I would have given up on it (speaking of that game, I oughta attempt the advanced areas and get the achievements for those.

Portal was one game I NEVER needed the vids. I only looked at the vids after.
Funny thing was this one section where the exit of the room was a vent and what you was supposed to do was get a rocket to hit a glass tube in the ceiling and get a cube to drop and then use the cube as as a stepping stone.
What I did instead was get a couple of chairs from the previous room and stacked them heh. Still worked.
That's one reason I liked Portal... multiple solutions to the problem.
You are right about one thing Red... WHERE THE FRACK IS EPISODE THREE.

You're only limiting yourself by looking at those videos, Red. It's extremely fun to figure it out yourself...

I find alot of people cannot work out certian puzzles in many many games. Look on bioware forums and watch how many people have trouble with the bridge puzzle in the temple during DA:O. I did that in less then five minutes.
Portal wasn't that hard either, some rooms I would spend an hour trying to work out some of the puzzle, but I always did it myself.

Some of the solutions were weird as hell... I remember the one time getting totally messed up and turned around to see a rocket coming out of the wall behind me... I dodged it and seconds later it solved the puzzle for me heh.
Did anyone else accidentally solve the puzzle? I managed to several times. My guess is my subconcious is a better problem solver... I know I can go to sleep with a coding problem and wake up with the answer... either that or playing golf with peanut butter golf balls... go figure!

Looks interesting. I think there may be some more moments of urgency than before (which could make or break the game). ALSO.
I felt creeped out.
and.
Solving puzzles in portal was sometimes frustrating when your brain would lock up. Sometimes I would dgaf it and try to force it to work. Similar to neo's chair idea haha.

Hey... the chair idea was legit heh...
The thing is that with Portal there is not fixed way to solve the puzzles... I've looked at some of the solutions on YouTube and half the time I would be going "Hmmm... I didn't solve it that way".
What really surprised me lately though is that Portal and HL2 is actually PLAYABLE on my bedside ION based PC. Acer Revo 3610 and it can play games in 1680x1050 that my old gaming PC couldn't cope with... Go figure huh! It does suffer a bit in HL2 when you have followers though.

I once took every single item you could pick up nearby for one puzzle and stacked them up to get into a vent. I didn't realize you were supposed to use the turret to blow a hole in the pipe to get a cube.

That is what SeeNoEyez was on about with me and a chair... I just used the chairs hehe. It wasn't until I watched a YouTube vid that I found out what I was supposed to do... Solving puzzles in portal was sometimes frustrating when your brain would lock up. Sometimes I would dgaf it and try to force it to work. Similar to neo's chair idea haha.
Actually in that level I was trying my hardest to get the rocket launcher to shoot itself heh... Sometimes you would try to solve problems that didn't actually exist. It was clever in the fact that it was teaching you how to the finish the game (ie dealing with GLaDOS at the end).
