And here are the hype-less impressions after beating the game.

Bioshock 2 to the original is like what Crysis Warhead is to the original Crysis. Startlingly so actually. Crysis warhead was less fleshed out, more linear and more action oriented than the original but it had a far superior story. Bioshock 2 is the same story. Only problem? Crysis Warhead was a standalone expansion sold at budget price. So it could get away with being similar to the original. Bioshock 2? Full fledged sequel. Or at least it is pretending to be, but this is ultimately an expansion pack. The additions are too meager to warrant shelling out 60 dollars.

This game focuses less on the city itself(Which worked wonders in the original) and focuses on the Little Sisters. Hence why you are playing as a big daddy. The story is a massive, MASSIVE improvement over the original. The premise in the original was good, but the story was lopsided and it feels like the whole thing was jerking you around. You know, like in System Shock 2...except not nearly as good.

This time, things are more bullshit-proof. You are on your mission to find your separated little sister, your little sister is trying to help you find her, and Rapture has turned communist. The relatively basic story is kept afloat by wonderful voice acting and likable characters. Since the story is so heavily based on the characters, it is a damn good thing that the characters themselves are so strong. Two minor complaints though:

1. What happened to Tenenbaum(sp)? She like...disappears after the first act.

2. What happened to the ghosts? Even System Shock 2 had those.

Now for my favorite part, the gameplay. My main complaint with Bioshock 1 was that it felt like a dumbed down System Shock 2. The additions and improvements to gameplay solidifies this game as a shooter. And makes it more enjoyable play through the chaotic moments. If you thought the Big Daddies were fun to fight, wait until you see the Big Sisters. These enemies are CRAZY fun to fight. The addition of wielding both plasmids and your weapon were long due. The chemical thrower was replaced by alternate plasmid abilities that do the same thing, so all is well. The remote hacking tool is awesome(Especially with auto hacking darts, those are so much fun to use). But other than that, the new weapons are just reskinned old weapons.

But it all comes to a rather abrupt halt because this game is a lot shorter than Bioshock. Again, expansion pack. It's a definite renter. But honestly, it is way more fun than Bioshock 1. Even some of the most chaotic battles in Bioshock 1 couldn't touch what happens in Bioshock 2. But it is all too short and adds far too little to justify a full price tag.

Abridged version: It's an awesome renter, horrible buy.

Thanks for the warning, Vi. Time to cross this title off my to-buy list. Now to look for other titles that may fancy my interest.

Well, I really only played Free for All, or as the game likes to call it, "Survival of the Fittest." It gets really fun because plasmids are into the game and fire and electricity are being thrown around all over the place creating a seemingly chaotic scene, but the plasmids are being used by most people strategically, surprising I know! Though truthfully most people use Fire then Tommy Gun. I however enjoy using electricity to stun, giving me the time to charge my nail gun and shoot them.
The game uses a ranking system like Call of Duty, you get xp, rank up, get new weapons, plasmids and tonics. The other game modes are fun too, I haven't really played them that much but there all just the same modes as in other mp games, just named different.
The most interesting thing in the mp is that it also has a story. Once you rank up enough, a tape in your apartment will appear telling the story of the character you choose. Characters and there visual customization don't do anything, there just there to allow you to make yourself look presentable. That and they say different things when you kill people. The apartment isint customizable, sadly, but it contains the tape recorder and places to change your loadouts and customize appearance, but you can just do that in the lobby.
Well, its fun, gives you incentive to keep playing and the maps are good, but last time I played it was a while ago and it was hard to find a match, I was playing on PS3.

Other Details:
You can photograph people you've killed to get a damage bonus against them, the damage bonus ends when you are killed.

The Big Daddy suit is a powerful tool, but only for those worthy of its power! I can bring down a Big Daddy suit very quickly, by myself. This either means I'm really good (which Ive decided I am being in first place most of the time) or the person in the suit is not very good. They are balanced, but can be used to quickly reach the top spot if at the bottom.

There are puddles of water, water leaks/falls and oil puddles on the maps that can be used very effectively with the plasmids that would make them useful.

There are turrets on the maps that can be hacked like in the sp that can be very game changing.
