Well tomorrow we will have the beta arriving... who else thinks that it is going to be so damned popular that the servers are going to be well past full and connections are going to drop like nobody's business.

I'm hoping I'm wrong though.

On the menu of ODST there is a new entry at the bottom in the place where Extras used to be... it now says "Welcome to the Beta" and is a link explaining what the beta is all about which is funny.

Look forward to meeting you on the battlefield.

Just a few FAQs...

To access the beta you need to load up your ODST disk and when the beta is unlocked (sometime late Monday morning PDT) you will see the image below...

Yup, the backend servers are getting hammered.

We're aware and working to resolve slow matchmaking times and inaccessible playlists. As soon as we're back up and running at full capacity, we'll make some noise.  Stay tuned for more information and thanks for your patience.

The beta is sooooo fun!
This was my first game of Halo in such a long time and only my second game of Reach, so I was pretty proud of myself for getting a killing frenzy.
I gotta say though, the playlists take a ridiculously long time to load.

Beta is OK but I'm showing my age now... the menus are TOO DARN FAST. I go to change armour ability and I'm already thrown into the game and my change wasn't registered.

Also, I dunno if it is me but the maps feel somewhat confining after Bad Company 2. Oh and are the weapons weaker than in Halo 3?

I did get a Killing Frenzy my first match though heh.

But my one big, BIG, complaint is... I'M FRICKIN COLOUR BLIND BUNGIE. Red vs Blue was fine... now I have a hard time IDing the bloody enemy.

Oh and I keep going to melee... WITH THE B BUTTON lol.

You need the ODST disk every time you play Panda. Strange way of playing because you have to boot into ODST and then select "Play the Beta" from the menu.

You might have got a cheap copy of ODST earlier in the year but now I bet peeps have put up the prices because of the beta. On eBay they are selling for around £20 now.

ODST isn't the only way. You can also use a code given to certain individuals. I will see if I can snag a code for you.

For those with the control problem the conttrol setting titled "Recon" is the closist to Halo 3's controls. You guys have probably gotten used to Reach by now, but just so you know. Thats what im using.

Oooh... thought the controls were actually fixed for the beta... must have missed something. Cheers Andar.

One thing that I missed (due to not being able to see the hud very well due to partial colour blindness) is that there is apparently reticule bloom (ie the weapon goes inaccurate fast and you have to wait for the bloom to reduce again). This might be why I thought the weapons were weaker.

BTW, Jet Pack + Brute Hammer thingy = UNSTOPPABLE heh.

Got to admit... that I agree.

Just was playing capture the flag and the rounds are WAY too short. Weapons are crap too.

I will probably buy Reach for the campaign and forget the multiplayer. Halo 3 was much better and Halo 2 was better still.

It seems that this is just the same game as Halo 3 but with nicer looking graphics... but not much nicer.

I'm off back to Battlefield... 1000x better imho.

The pistol is back to its old Halo 1 self again and that gets a thumbs up.

Also, if you melee a sword user exactly as he slashes, it parries the blade and allows you to attack again.

the beta will be free to everyone including xbox live silver users the weekend of may 14-17, according to kotaku. The catch, however, you must have a copy of ODST. I'm on my phone and can't provide a link. But i'ma try and rent a copy that weekend and try it. And then I'll probably hate it and go back to bad company 2.

Yes, except you hold melee. Not tap it.

I've assassinated with just a tap from behind...

I saw one bug... guy starts an assassination move just as a teammate kills the enemy... The assassinating guy ends up climbing in midair and stabbing nothing with relish heh.

When you assassinate mid air, you pound them to the ground with your fists.

The only things I don't like are that the Assault Rifle is really shitty, and now a melee won't kill someone when they have really low shields like it did in Halo 3.
It takes 2 melees to kill someone in Reach, regardless of whether they have full or low shields.

My partner and I managed to sneak in as the Assassin classes and disable all the generators before they knew we were there.

Well, I finally put down FF13 long enough to try invasion. Its pretty cool, though I thought it would be a longer game type. It gave me the ability to use vehicles which are great but there seems to be a delay on the covenant vehicles when it comes to the boost, I don't know if this is intentional or not but its really annoying.
Other then that its really fun! Its a lot more fair then I thought it would be too.
