Say guys, you know that I am in the middle of writing a novel, well how many of you would like to be a minor character IN the novel itself. Just for a bit of fun you eG guys.

Parts include scientists, office staff marines of an underground base. A lucky dip will be take of peeps who want to be in the novel and the winner will be the President of the USA.

So then, who wants to be Prez?

Nope, the book is past the design phase now (although I still have been doing a few tweaks here and there) but I'm writing the chapters now. Most of the Marines are not in the book until Part 2 (of . At the moment I'm just doing the setup. I'm going to re-write the Prologue (where you meet the US President for the first time) because I'm still not convinced. The book starts with the apparent end of 99% of the human race so I need to give it more... impact... as it were.

The eG peeps will take the place of the marine support characters that will play a major role in the defence of the planet.

If I do manage to get it in print I will send each of you a signed copy. Promise!

One of the reason I decided to offer you guys this was because I have been neglecting the forum updates recently. I'm hoping that I can get the first draft of the novel down by the end of next month and then I will take a break, work on the site and then go back over the novel to polish it. Eronios has actually given me a few ideas that actually worked out well but the rest have been really, REALLY, weird coincidences.

Like the underground base that appears in much of the novel. I based it under Denver Airport... I wanted to get some dimensions of the airport itself and found that there actually IS a base under the airport. Freaky stuff.

I also wanted a way to manipulate inertia so I invented a particle that allowed you to negate the mass of an object which makes it possible to accelerate and brake almost instantly. So what are the guys at the Large Hadron Collider trying to do... Find the Higgs Boson Particle THAT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR GIVING ITEMS MASS! Freaky times again.

Kind of makes me wonder if Science Fiction isn't closer to science FACTion... At least this novel lets me mess with Hitler's master race. Oh and there is big twist at the end of the book that actually got put in courtesy of the damned Gulf oil disaster. I was thinking of that when I went to sleep and woke up with a whole new ending for the book that opened up a whole new load of possibilities... and I have already got book 2 mapped out because of it.

Weird thing is that these books have come out of nowhere. It's like the damned things are screaming to be written. From the wormhole jumps (that are nothing like Stargate) to the power suits that are not metal like most suits you see (these suits are like of set of external artificial muscles covered it a reactive sheath that hardens when it detects anything coming towards it) to the base personnel who vote to save humanity whatever the cost. 90% of it have come from waking up with the ideas. Thank god I have a PC connected to my bed and that sleeps when I do... tap of the mouse and it wakes up and I can enter my latest brainwave.

God... once I finish it I will HAVE to do the harder part... selling the bloody thing.

The fictional Marine unit that will be the core of my first book is laid out below. I never realised what making an alternative reality would be like until I started putting the layout together... You can choose to replace any slot but the ones in Team 1-3 as those are my core characters. In fact it's about Jonah and Cowboy who join the Marines who are the top team... FORCE FORWARD (think Force Recon in this reality). These are the marines that go in first and kick a hole in the enemy for the rest of the armed forces.

Should have mentioned that the snapshot is only 1st Squad and 2nd and 3rd Squad are in there too but they get pretty much killed off in the first third of the book (not pulling punches).

In fact that snapshot is AFTER the incident which killed a lot of the company and members from 2nd and 3rd Squad got moved over to 1st to make up numbers.

If you want to take the place Lancer you will be in a good portion of the book Jace... first come first served as it were. I will warn you though, your character gets slightly stressed out with his Team slightly because of the stuff they get into. Rage is a girl with control problems at times (although she is a good soldier... when she goes quiet... RUN), Thor picked up a sledgehammer on one op when his gun jammed and used that to kill a tank and then got the engineers to make him a custom hammer that he uses more than his guns now, Jonah is an accident waiting to happen (which usually causes shit to blow up) and Cowboy is a frickin beserker... So much so that he has had to regrow 3 left arms, 1 right arm, 1 left leg and 5 right legs. The suits automatically tourniquet the wounds and the advanced meds let the soldiers heal faster. Cowboy is a good soldier (best shot after LT Deadly) but seems to be a bullet magnet.

So you can imagine the hassle the Gunnery Sergeant that is set to look after them. In fact there was a 2LT looking after them originally but he had to be sedated and put in an "I Love Me" jacket because Jonah drops some rounds into a spaceship power management console while reloading which cause the engine to overload and explode and end up putting most of the unit in the body and fender shop. Destroyed 3 enemy ships in the process without any further team losses was the only reason that Jonah wasn't charged heh... The 2LT lost both lower legs and both forearms were broken or he would have killed Jonah for that screwup (hence Jonah's team name).

So if you want to be the Gunny who is supposed to get the renegade team back on track you can have it... The Prez slot is only a minor character.

Those guys are the ones that throw the big stuff to support the troops when they need cover or need to manoeuvre. They don't come into action until the last part where it's the final defence fighting an enemy with technology that is miles ahead of humanity.

Mind you, there is one part in the middle of the book where they use the mortar packs to lob sensor drones into the middle of an army and then they take out a whole load of tanks... I haven't written that part yet but it's sketched out... Hmmm...

OK, Mortar Guy you are... in more ways that one hehe.

I was going to use the gamertags... but what the heck... works for me.

Actually the german name is going to have an extra use as I need a German who hates Nazis. Haven't got to that section of the book yet but I need someone who REALLY hates Nazis and who has ancestors who were gassed by them for being disabled.

1st Squad is going to busy forcing a timeline change on purpose... unfortunately changing the timeline is prevented by the Cassandra Effect so standing up and saying " I am from the future, resistance is futile " would have no effect... They need to force Hitler into making mistakes, ruin the German A-Bomb plot etc...

I was going to mention some of the changes but I have been dropping too many spoilers as it is...
