I'm not much of a football watcher but I do watch the World Cup usually... well not this time...

It's those ANNOYING TRUMPET DRONES... Anyone else think that it sounds like an attack of the giant wasps all the time? I turned off after 15 minutes of the France/Uruguay game because it was so damned annoying.

haha i dont notice them that much hey. we watch the games here too. but they play at either 12am or 415am, so we go down the football club at coolum and watch it there.

If the Vuvezula (or whatever they are called) made more than a single horrible drone it wouldn't be so bad. It's like sticking your head in a wasp nest while watching the match (minus the stings).

Jeez, even bagpipes would be better... hell, LOADS better imho.

I was being annoyed by the world cup for the past week and a half. Almost every single advert is something to do with the football. GO AWAY and just let me watch my program in peace!

I usually only watch england games and the final. INtrested in England's first game, against USA.

A friend said that this is the result of signing up too many foreign players in our Premier League. They are good players but we just aren't doing enough to sort out support for them, instead spending huge sums for foreign players.

Why anyone thinks that England has a chance to win the World Cup is beyond me. Hell, the time we DID have a chance we got cheated by Maradona and his fockin "Hand of God". Damned Argies have to cheat to beat Brits at anything. Whether it is in football or invading foreign soil.

After beckham got an injureing awhile ago and couldn't play, our new captian was our goalkeeper. But he got an injury about a week before the world cup started. Something tells me england arn't supposed to win this year.

I really think Australia should win the world cup. My guess is South Africa will win BECAUSE THEY ARE ALREADY DEAF FROM THOSE VUVUZELAS AND THE REST OF THE WORLD ARE GETTING IRRITATED BY THEM.

I've stopped watching the World Cup because of two things... 1. The Vuvuzelas and 2. Banning those girls in the orange dresses.

JOHANNESBURG - A group of 36 Dutch women were turned away from the Netherlands-Denmark game in Johannesburg’s Soccer City for wearing orange “Dutchy dresses” supplied by a Dutch beer company, South Africa’s The Star newspaper reported Tuesday.

Bavaria brewery distributed the figure-hugging dresses in the Netherlands as part of a World Cup promotion.

Bavaria is a competitor of Budweiser, an official FIFA sponsor. Orange is the colour of The Netherlands jersey.

One of the women told The Star that they were Monday sitting in their seats near the pitch, “singing songs and having a good time” when a FIFA official came up to them and said they were not allowed wear the dress and had to leave.

When the women refused to leave FIFA called in stewards to take them by force, Barbara Kastein said.

The group was then taken to a FIFA office and interrogated by police for several hours before being released, she said.

“They said we were ambush marketing and it was against the law in South Africa. They said we would be arrested and would stay in jail for six months. Girls were crying,” she told the paper.

A spokesman for Bavaria expressed dismay at the women’s treatment, saying there was no branding on the dress and that “FIFA don’t have a monopoly over orange.”

But FIFA was unapologetic, telling The Star that Bavaria had a long history of ambush marketing at sports events and had also tried to hitch its brand to the Dutch team.

Bavaria also locked horns with FIFA at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, where Dutch fans wearing Bavaria-branded orange lederhosen to games were ordered to strip.

Being threatened with 6 months prison for wearing an orange dress is despicable.

Awesome...

Been watching the highlights of the games and OMFG is the refereeing totally abysmal. Germany were robbed when Klose was sent off for pretty much nothing and the US shouldn't have had that final goal disallowed because THEY WERE THE ONES BEING FOULED FFS.

Seriously, have the refs been chosen from the junior league or something... or are the Vuvuzelas getting to them too?

Oh for god's sake... Kaka getting sent of for a Hollywood performance by the Ivory Coast player should get that player ****ing fined for bringing the game into disrepute. The World Cup used to be about the game... now it is about big corporate money, lying players, inept referees and utter, utter bullshit.

Football lives on but the game died years ago... Perhaps they should just get rid of the refs entirely and remove everything but getting the ball in the goal. Would bring more action into the game at the very least! 

Edit: A friend just pointed out that Keita actually went to hit Kaka on the back of the head... missed... AND HIT HIMSELF IN THE FACE!!!! ROFLMAO! I had to look at it a couple of times just to get over how gobsmacked I was... or how Keita was at least lol. So it wasn't a Hollywood performance after all... it was Darwin Award!
