Some of the calls have been totally bullcrap... I just watched the Uraguay-Ghana highlights and Suarez volleyballing the Ghana shot that was going in the goal was total bullcrap. The goal should have been awarded AND Suarez get the red card... not just the red card and the goal disallowed. Because of that cheating ass, Ghana get knocked out on penalties.

I was glad that Maradonna's Argentina got thoroughly wiped out though... serves him right for handballing his shot in the 1986 World Cup.

But Football these days is full of dirty players, cry babies, cheats and useless refs... And you wonder why I hardly ever watch matches. DOH!

They need instant replay allowed in the referees' decisions, not just what they think they saw. A goal today was disallowed because of some offsides violation when the player wasn't (that's apparently been rampant through the Cup). I also saw the guy rob Ghana of advancing and you're right that the goal should have been counted and he should have been tossed. If there's no consequences, it'll keep happening until there's only one man from each team on the field because the others used their hands to stop a goal. There's too much flopping in football (and basketball) and too much whining in both International and American football.

It's time for all professional sports to become modern with not just the referees on the court or field making the decisions. Look at tennis, it shows exactly how a sport should be run.

Yeah it was the Uruguay goal that was disallowed... poetic justice though in this case because it should have been Ghana playing instead but Suarez played Volleyball instead to stop them scoring. I be the Ghana team were laughing their socks off at Martino...

The game is about winning by any means necessary (and this means acting to get the other person booked or punching a ball if they think they can get away with it)... the soul that was there in the days of Stanley Matthews is gone... dead and buried.

I think that a new rule should be entered. Anyone caught faking a hit should be banned from playing for 6 months for a first offence and 12 months for a second. Anyone DELIBERATELY cheating should get a 12 month ban too. Anyone assaulting another player on the field gets a 12 month ban too... THEY NEED TO FRAKIN BE BROUGHT TO HEEL!

Equally though the refs need video replay challenges like in tennis... you get three challenges per match. It wouldn't stop the flow of the game. Also there should be goal line technology. There are just too many mistakes and this World Cup have been FULL of mistakes made by incompetent refs. Look at the England goal that never was. Look at the goal that was allowed even though the ref saw on the big screen that the players were offside. THE RULES ARE JUST BULLCRAP! The ref KNEW he had made a mistake but had to allow the goal anyway. Then there was the Kaka incident where a dumbass guy on the other team went to hit Kaka, missed, and hit HIMSELF in the face AND KAKA GOT SENT OFF WITH A RED CARD. Utter bullcrap.

Nah, FIFA need to get back to grass roots and stop this crap happening... and replays are a way to stop it... The faked injuries just make me want to take a baseball bat to their shins and say "THAT IS WHAT AN INJURY FEELS LIKE... REMEMEBER? STOP... FREAKIN... BEING... A... LYING... BABY!"

It can't go back to its roots, nothing can. It has to join modern times with instant replay and officiating that isn't just based on human reaction time. If the refs could have seen exactly what happened in the Kaka play (or they were told by off-the-field officials), the correct call would have been made; flopping would dwindle down until it's rarely seen because they'll always be able to make the correct call. If the idiot hits himself, he's an idiot, but don't remove a player from the other team because of it. That's like arresting, charging, and convicting a guy who got stabbed by a psycho who was trying to stab himself.

the video ref option is ok. our nrl refs use a video reffing system. i get sick of the refs constantly consulting the video refs though... it does slow down the game as they dont want to take responsibility for any possible mistakes. its almost to the point where the refs shouldnt even be on the pitch. i find myself shouting "make a f**%$ing decision!!!!"

what football needs is to have the refs tell the players to man the f*^k up and the refs leave their little pocket card books their pocket.
if the stopped calling fouls everytime a player fell over, THAT would stop people flopping.
the goals incorrectly scored is neither here or there, people are prone to mistakes, it happens. although some form of senor system would do the trick for ball over line debates.

i like soccer but the over zealous cards and all the bloody over acting drama queens make me think it should be a game for princesses not men.
