It was only because Bab3r made a comment on an Eskrima school photo on Facebook that I had a look on Youtube to see if there were any vids of it. Me and my GF at the time went to one lesson of it back when I was a teenager. She ended up whackin me on the head with one of the sticks while messing about that raised a real egg on my forehead. Strangely enough she went on to do mostly Judo while I took up Savate.

I did some Judo too but she tended to wipe the floor with me... hell I even took my nephew who was only about 8 or 9 and the one time I was looking at my GF on the other side of the mat grinning at my nephew trying to throw me... then the world went oopsie and I was flying through the air and hit the mat without me doing a soddin breakfall. Yup... my 9 year old nephew kicked my ass on his FIRST ever visit to the club. I think I went to one grading in Judo and gave up (even though I won all my matches at the grading).

Ouch! Did you know what grade stick you got hit with? Because it can be the diff from a "ow" to a "OMFG MY HEAD". My friend has the highest grade, which is illegal due to it doesn't break at serious impact.
That's pretty cool though Neo. I've been trying to free myself up some more, as well as my wallet to get back into trying diff martial arts.

When I joined my studio, i was surprised how natural everything felt. I picked it up relatively fast and learned I had some pretty good hands in sparring haha.

You do Eskrima? Our whole class uses rotan sticks, but once in a while we whip out the Purple Heart if we're all feelin brave haha.

Purpleheart? Those look really great! And, yeah they hurt a lot.

I've lightly trained in arnis/(same as escrima). But I trained more on other martial arts.
Eskrima on the other hand, I LOVE. I learned a bit when I was little, and later on I learned to use Kamas. From there, I move back to kali sticks and it felt much more natural. (more free).

You can see me and my friend ****ing around with some in that vid I posted. I've wanted to take more training in them, BUT with barely any luck. I only get to pick up a few when I visit studios/train.
