The circular ditch surrounding a smaller circle of deep pits about a metre (3ft) wide has been unearthed at the world-famous site in Wiltshire.
Archaeologists conducting a multi-million pound study believe timber posts were in the pits.

I've sent an email to the project lead suggesting that the timber henge could have been a beta test of Stonehenge itself. After all it was probably easier to move timber than put the rocks together and then find a bug in the program heh. We have silicon chip computers while the Druids used silicon chunk computers.
Actually, thinking about it, it could have been the first beta of Duke Nukem Forever...
