Overall I'm quite happy with the game... some bugs are appearing that are funny though (like if you put a laser sight on the pre-order pistol the gun vanishes). Another one (on the  PC) is Doc's head going wonky...

Fallout New Vegas intro bug Small | Large

The bug that is annoying the hell out of me though is the further you get into the game the longer it takes to load after entering or exiting a building or change areas. I kid you not, waiting about a minute for the game to damned well load (I have loaded it onto the hard drive too) is a bit much for a 2010 game... especially as Fallout 3 never suffered from it.

Game is still damned addicting though...

I found the load times increase after I installed to the HDD. It was quicker without it. I keep getting distracted in game doing other things. I never even hit the strip until about 7 or 8 hours in.  Grin

I found that I was REALLY having problems getting caps before I hit the strip... then when it asked for a passport or show that I had 2000 caps to get into the strip I was stuck... until I decided to rob the gang with the energy weapons... I stole their entire inventory and they were none the wiser... I then sold a lot of the stuff at Gun Runners (after walking really slowly as I was overburdened).

Was worth it... got some nice loot and ammo from that raid hehe... Guess how I did it with killing only one of the gang?

Oh and I found that the load times today have sorted themselves out... after the patch. Now they are the same as Fallout 3.

I've sort of stopped doing the main quest at this moment. Decided to look for the Brotherhood bunker. INstead I found the ski resort. ANd now have been distracted to quests for the NCR, I just took down a legion base so now they hate me.

Neo have you found the brotherhood bunker yet? I still haven't lol. ANd where are the gun runners, they were excellent for the best weapons in FO1, I wonder if the same rings true in NV.

That footage is from 360. I'm amazed it somehow passed through QA.

A friend of mine had a glitch where she lost 6 hours of game time, all her saves corrupted. As far as loading times, I only ever had that issue when I had stored too many things in one place (it was very apparent in Oblivion and they carried it over into FO3 and it looks like NV, too).

Game's fun. Feels just like fallout 3 without feeling rehashed. I think the story etc are to thank for that.

Unfortunately it feels like it takes days to really get the story going past "the guy went there, get there, find hes not there, but do a quest to know where he went" shit.

Alas, again, I have been exploring everywhere trying to do as many side quests as possible to get exp and moolah.

Nice side stories
Like, I believe, Boone's wife's disappearance and finding out how she really went missing.
Anna Mae sold her as a slave for 1k caps. Found it [bill of sales] in her safe after hours, and got boone to blow her head off in front of the Dino
I had a glitch only the first night and it was it freezing at Load. I assume the patch got it. BUT thankfully the game autosaved for me after I entered a room, soo. YAY for saving me precious play time.

PS. Traveled to a spot via pipboy map, checked text message in RL while it loaded, looked up to a bunch of guys coming at me with cleavers etc, and my character getting shot.
Soo watch out while using the quick travel.

I walked into ceaser's tent wearing NCR trooper armour, bad idea. I actually killed ceaser long before the end because of my exploration.

Just completed the main storyline about an hour ago, and I stupidly forgot to make a save before the final quest, so I can't use the character anymore >.<. So planning on make a gun slinger based character next and will most likely side with either Mr House or out for myself.

Loving it so far, though it took me a while to really get into it. Again it took me 9 hours ish to get to the strip were before that I was dirt poor but once I got there I used all my NCR money and my legionaries money at the casinos. Got my self banned from all of them (10,000 winnings for The Tops and Gommorah, 15,000 for the Ultra Luxe) so now I have 35,000 caps.

Might go hunting for the unique weapons soon, found the unique cleaver by accident.

Really enjoying this game... there seem to be loads of branches in the game via the choices you made...

1. I haven't done ANY gambling yet (low luck... doh!)
2. I haven't done any campfire manufacturing (other than the first healing powder)
3. I am having problems finding out how to repair some of the weapons (unique maybe)

Can anyone suggest where to find energy weapon ammo and how do you change the empty charges into reloads?

Oh and I have been doing a Dirty Harry with the .44. That gun sure has authoriteeeeeh < said in Cartman's voice.

The thing about this game that will make it fun to replay is that there are so many different things you can choose to do. I just wish the random chat was really random chat. The next Omerta that says he got kicked out of the Ultra Luxe and that the white gloves are creepy will get a .44 enema.  Roll Eyes

Oh and my biggest hate award of this game goes to...

THOSE FREAKIN CAZADORS

If you go to reload benches, highlight what you want to create and it will tell you all the components needed. ANd cazadors are hard. I remember my first encounter, it was one or two, it was a bloody swarm, needless to say I died.

And neo play some blackjack or caravan, luck isn't as important as for the other things. I've won a couple game of blackjack with a luck of 5, still trying to get the hand of caravan.

Oh god... Vault 34 is kicking my ass... HARD... Think I need to rethink this approach...

Reason is, the whole vault is radioactive so you have only so much time before you turn glow in the dark. Oh and the Glowing Ones in there are WAY tougher than FO3.

I think I'm going to go do some other stuff and then get the recipe perk so I can make my own Hollow point rounds.

I hazard suit might help, or power armour for the rad resistance.

Power armour is actually worth it now due to damage threshold. I could survive in FO3 quite easily just wearing a duster. Now it is more difficult to survive.

And Hardcore does make the game feel more believeable, and the vault 13 canteen is really useful.

How do you learn the Power Armour ability in NV? I'm at a bit of a loss atm... I've GOT some T-51B but I can't use it because I don't have the skill.

I just checked and I'm only 31 hours into the game (mainly due to having forced breaks because I seize up otherwise lol). I've put off going to V34 until I'm better off. Say, I only just found out you can have 2 companions... 1 robot and one human. Got ED-E and Veronica up to now... had to dismiss ED though as I needed to take Rex to the vets heh. I SOOOO love this game... I thought for a while that FO3 was better but now I think NV by a MILE!

I just LOVE how ED goes into battle, music blaring... totally awesome.

I've got veronica following me around at the moment, she is the most fun to talk to, I really like her personality. Boone is the best in combat, he is very accurate with his rifle and gets plenty of head shots. And the spotter perk highlights enemys when you aim making it far easier to pick out enemies in the dark and at night.

To get power armour training you need to join the Brotherhood of steel. From the helios plant go NW and there should be a gulch full of radscorpians, mostly bark but a couple of Giant, you may wish to tell your companions to wait, I had to. But after you do the brotherhood questline you should get it then. Note do not wear NCR armour, brotherhood shoot you on sight.

I think NV is better then FO3. In some ways I think beth were slightly nervous of showing how gritty the wasteland really is. FO3 never really did, I felt FO2 went over the top though. I've noticed the obsidian when they make games, it seems to be better in terms of gameplay.

KoToR2's gameplay was better then one imo,m same with NV to FO3. DIdn't really notice it that much with NWN2, though there were other things which were better in it.

I rented this for 2 days. Split the cost with the brother. Thank you redbox. NOW, I can go buy the game lol.

Boone's fun to have backing me up. I just go run in a circle and let my AP go back up while he picks people off. A lot easier than before where I would HATE running out of ap and getting hit.

I've also had raider armor far from NCR troops. Some sargeant comes and attacks me. I kill him in impulse. Boone's the one that alerted me to him so his health was already down.. Shot to the head and he was gone. Greeaaat.

Having fun shooting people down with "That gun". Been doing a lot of prospecting 8D.

Guyyug, you don't mean the radscorps that you kill to find the missing laser pistol do you, because I've done that and still not been offered to join up with the Brotherhood.

Oh and does anyone find that Rebound doesn't seem to help much? It is supposed to boost your AP regeneration. Maybe one of my stats is too low.

Oh and thanks for the vid SNE... Caravan was REALLY confusing me...

On another note, I think there is a memory leak in NV... When I start playing the game it loads up saves really quickly. After playing for a few hours though it takes freaking FOREVER to load the saves or move from one area to another. Go to the dashboard and restart the game though and it speeds up again.

When I joined the brotherhood, I had managed to get evidence for the head paladin to replace the elder. A few days later I was able to ask to join and to do so I had to wipe out the van graffs. You could possibly join by going through the whole questline.

I've also found out you can get power armour training by doing arcadae gannon's companion quest. You can find him at the Mormon fort in freeside. YOu should also get a set of power armour. The armour is cool because it is...

The advanced power armour MKI, which was the enclave power armour in FO2.

No problemo, it confused the hell out of me too. I went over how to play it via whatshisfake in the begg, and reading the tutorial.
A bulb clicked until I continued reading.. then I got confused.

Soo, I've used that strategy just so I can continuously win without knowing all the rules muaha.

I am banging my head on the screen atm because of the dumbass bugs that got through... Namely the vanishing companions...

Sent Veronica back to the 38 so I could do Lily's quests and went back to the 38... and no bloody Veronica.

Looking around this is a common bug apparently so it SHOULD have got picked up in QA testing. So now my wandering crafting table is no more DAMNIT!

I'm beginning to wonder if I should just load up an old save and lose 6 hours of play...

I had the problem that veronica stopped following me which was tied to the finsihing off her companion quest. Just redownloading the data that you needed to earlier helped her start following me again.

I had Cass and ED-E both vanish on my first playthorugh. ED-E had got pushed through a wall by a legionarie, and cass just disappeared. Funny thing is cass appeared at the end of at the start of the final battle for hoover dam, she ran in and promptly got killed.

Honestly I was expecting alot of bugs. Just look at NWN2 and KOTOR2.

I didn't see a lot of bugs in Kotor 2... tbh with you I don't even remember a single one...

I just had one really hilarious bug happen coming out of the Novac motel room. I had just put Veronica in T51b armour and she was following me and ED-E down the steps. ED blocked her for a while until she got to the bottom of the steps while I waited... ED floats away and leaves Veronica somehow stuck at the bottom of the steps...

Not really funny I hear you say... but when she got stuck she started to RIVERDANCE hehe... Seriously looked just like it. Riverdancing in power armour hehe. Kick step, kick step, hop step....  Applaud

I had to go back to an earlier save but Veronica is so worth it... "What are you giving me... OOOH, IS IT A DRESS?" Cheesy

GIve her a dress and she teaches you an unarmed attack, I did it just a short while ago. Raul is a great character for comments. Go into sneak mode. "Yeh Make the old guy hide in the dirt."

And I went to vault 34, the large number of ghouls and their constant gurgaling, the rads, the flooded sections. Really annoying, but by the end, completely worth it. I started a new character yesterday, I just hit the strip with him, he was level 18/19 by the time he entered freeside. I was finding a whole bunch of stuff I missed on my first playthrough.

I hate you lol.... I still haven't gone back to 34 because I am finding more and more things to do and kit to use.

At the moment I'm doing scavenging for bits to make weapon repair kits for the unique weapons that you can't repair... Strangely fun... EXCEPT for the stupid fact that I lost 45 minutes worth of the game when the bloody thing froze up and crashed. That's happened quite a few times.

Choosing between the sniper weapons has been hard... silenced sniper vs the anti-materiel vs marksman assault carbine (I'm discounting the Varmint as it is too weak imho)... damage, noise availability of NINE types of ammo... in the end I went for the silenced one... Great for long range takedowns and then ducking to hide and snigger. Got the LMG for close in combat too. Might take that down 34 I think.

I have definately made a mistake with choosing the skills... Instead of sticking to a plan I have spread my points too much and not enough in the combat skills.  I take it there is a ceiling of lvl 25 again?

Going down into 34 is best done with a shotgun imo. Glowing ones wearing vault armour. Just thought about it, I've gone to every vault in Mojave.  Applaud

My loadout is;

Anti-Material Rifle for long range
Dinner bell (Unique hunting shotgun) for close combat
Lucky (Unique .357 Magnum as a side arm.)
Ranger Sequoia (unique hunting revolver)
And This Machine. (A semi auto rifle that uses .308 rounds and looks like an M1 Garand.)

I managed to plan out my skills quite early. I've got max guns and lockpicking. I have put science at 55 so I use a magazine and can get it to 75 for hard terminals. Very hard generally for doors so can either be lockpicked or there is a password or normal key around. Speech is very useful so that is at a decent level as well. My char is level 23 at this moment.

Um... Magazines only give 10 bonus, not 20.

I'm just peed off because another bug just hit... I had a Grenade Launcher and a Grenade Rifle... I sold the Launcher (the weaker of the two) and then when I got into a firefight I hit the hotswitch for the rifle and nothing happened... checked and the system had sold the Grenade Rifle instead. I double checked in the dialogue and it was definately the launcher that was transferred.

I've actually noticed quite a few glitches with the inventory system... with some things vanishing when you put them into your inventory then when you drop something with the same name they appear again. Very frustrating.

Edit: I just realised that I have loads to do and on Thursday I will have ANOTHER rpg dropping through my door (Fable III). On top of that I will have Force Unleashed II as well... Yoikes... Going to be Christmas early this year heh.

Just an fyi, but I believe there is a perk or something that makes magazines have double the effect. (not length, but points). I forget, but Im sure because in hindsight I wish I had chosen it at some point because I was needing it to open a few things/barter.

Yeah the perk is really useful. It helps with so many quests. I took is very early on. I also make sure to keep magazines for barter, speech, and science.

Well the blackjack in FNV is totally sucky... instead of letting you see what the dealer gets it whips the cards away so fast you can't even see what you lost to. Personally I like to SEE what I got beat by... Hell the dealer could be a cheating git for all I know heh.

I just wished it would leave the cards on the table until you hit A...

Just been down Vault 34 again and I can honestly say I HATE THIS ****ING VAULT!

The problem is that the light from your Pip Boy sucks so I use Cateye but even that sucks... the lighting is supposed to make it scary I suppose but with the radiation it is hopeless... even wearing a rad suit and taking rad-X you still get irradiated. That is sooooooo bullshit it is unbelievable.

So I got so far into the vault after stumbling around for ages and then guess what happened... THE GAME CRASHED!

FNV is a cool game but way too unstable imho... I was thinking it was probably me but apparently there are loads saying the same thing on the Beth boards too. Oh well, I think I'm going to stop playing until they patch the damned thing as several times good stuff has vanished out of my inventory... Earlier, after saving up and buying some good weaponry the game crashed and when I restarted the game I found that the weapons were gone along with the caps I had spent. Another time I found that Veronica had stopped moving and had to go to an earlier save again... another time ED got stuck in this tunnel... another time... well, you get the picture.

Having to keep re-doing sections because of bugs is a big no-no in my book... and then Vault 34 (which I have got to do to get that damned Pulse Gun) is just a stupid layout. If they had done the normal layout with radiation then OK... if they had done the maze layout without the radiation then OK... but having the 2 just pisses people off.

Something about the UK or something really hates you Neo. I barely get glitches in my games, at least in comparison to you D;.

During my entire playthrough of fallout (2-4 days) I only had one issue and that was when it froze up.

I'm just lucky I guess... but Fable III is 1000000x worse than NV imho because the damned bugs are affecting the saves... and for once it's not just me (just look at the Lionhead forum).

-back to complaints about multiple saves-

Honestly, it annoyed me that I pretty much have to play the game completely over just to have a different ending.

I have a save just before the final battle so I could fight with the NCR, and what I did a few moments ago, I just did the quests for yes man, though I will have to start a new character to side with Ceaser's leagion or Mr House.

New Vegas has 1001 bugs in it... at the very least lol.

Today I was idolised by the NCR... but when I got climbed into an empty bed I got attacked by the entire NCR army and killed... FOR GETTING INTO A DAMNED BED.

Talk about over reacting heh DOH!

Then later on I went up to the Lucky 38 Presidential Suite only to hear "You do know you are going around with a ****ing murdered, don't you?" - Yup, somehow I now have a Great Khan in my bedroom. LIKE WTF! How the hell did she get into my bedroom?

Arcade Gannon is one glitched up character as well... Had to go back several hours to an earlier save when his join, discharge dialogue vanished totally.

One of my pet hates about this game is the FRIGGIN INVISIBLE WALLS! Routes that are obviously open access are blocked by forcefields it seems. If a way isn't accessible STICK SOMETHING IN THE WAY FFS... don't make these invisible wall crappy things. The number of time I have been running for cover only to get trapped by these bullcrap things is amazing.

Then there was... oh hell, I will be here all week if I keep on... Even with all these bugs, the game is still fun.

They annoy me as well, specially if you don't do alot of fast travel. I enjoy wandering the wasteland.

I've hunting the biggest enemies I can find.
Legendary Cazador. Like three times as big as a regular. I found remnants power helmet here.
Radscorpian Queen. This thing was a monster, almost three times bigger then a giant radscorpian! Found knock-knock, unique fire axe with it.
Queen fire ant. Disappointingly easy, I blew it's head off with one shot from my Ranger Sequoia.
Legendary Deathclaw. Warning do not take this thing on until you are a very high level. On normal it took most of my health off in one attack, it's attack bypasses DT so you are in the same boat if you're using power armour or running around in sexy nightwear. It guards Mercy, unique grenade machine gun.

I'm still searching for others, don't think there are any though.

Done all those but there is one Legendary enemy that is REALLY PISSING ME OFF NOW!

FRICKIN ARCADE GANNON!

Seriously, getting him to follow you is harder than taking on the Legendary Deathclaw. I have been trying to finish Auld Lang Syne without him vanishing on me. I nearly got it finished and went into the bunker and he frickin vanished again... and of course the auto save didn't have him appear either. So I started saving after each step... and then the game crashes on me.  Roll Eyes I find that the game crashes at least once a session on me, if not more. Worst was 8 crashes in a single session. I hope there is another patch coming out soon.

BTW, it's easy to take the big Deathclaw out with a Gauss Gun and OC ammo at range... Then the damned Alpha Male comes after you which is death in one hit if he reaches you... Oh for a jet pack lol. Oh and the Cannon from the downed Vertibird is good too (if a little slow to reload... I really should have chosen the fast reload skill... too late now... at level 30). I took out the Legendary Cazedor out with the Gauss Gun with OC as well... oh and the Meltdown skill helps as it took out 4 of the normal and 2 baby ones with one round. Oh and knackered ALL my limbs too and knocked out ED-E. Meltdown is CRAZY!

I'm a guns characters. I don't have any weapons with a knockback effect. I just shot it with incendiary ammo on my AM rifle, fire bypasses armour. Though my first shot was with AP rounds, managed to get a sneak crit on it's head.

The first time I ran into the alpha male in the quarry it was stuck in the wall, and I could not damage it. It was like only it's left foot so I got a really good look at it. I'm glad they made deathclaws dangerous.

In FO1 and 2 you feared going up against them, FO3 I didn't, though that was because of dartgun making the fight incredibly easy. Now they are to be feared again, I dread running into deathclaws now. If I know they are in the area have to tell my companions to wait, the amount of times I've seen cass' head get severed due to them.  Tongue

One thing I wasn't expecting to see in the game was the legion prisioner in camp Mcarren. Not that they had a prisoner, but the name. In games I always try to choose interesting names which I do not expect to be around. So my character was called Silus, imagine my surprise when there actually was a character called the same thing.  Cheesy

Seems Obsidian has released a patch. Fixed one thing I didn't even realise was a bug. ED-E is now firing something that reminds me of the guass rifle. I assume this is the weapon upgrade the followers gave it.

I had assumed the devs were just lazy and gave ED-E a bit more damage.

Patch notes found here.

My ED-E was bugged for sure... After he got upgraded he stopped shooting ANYONE!

Typical of my luck though...

I need to finish that off (yeah, not even finished it yet but sitting up atm is bloody causing my knee to ache like a SOB... hence not much 360 gaming).

Well, I thought the game's story was much better then Fallout 3's. I love hardcore mode and actually being able to choose a faction to side with, but I hate the map as it seems the only interesting thing in it is New Vegas, and that was small and disappointing. I also hate glitches and what not but I seem to be fairly lucky and have only received a moderate amount compared to those Ive heard on the internet.

One of the reasons I stopped was to wait for the patch because of weird crap happening to me. Like getting chased out of New Vegas for sleeping in a bed that I was actually on really good terms with and it was an unallocated bed too... The damned AI went nuts on my ass lol... What was funnier was the guy who came up to me said something like "Make us chase you all over the desert... Now we have caught you"... I was inside their headquarters at the time lol.

Things such as that are the most common problems I encounter, but whenever they do I pass them off as simply part of my characters life. As if I was simply betrayed by that faction.

I've taken some time off this one, for the same reasons. 'Cept with me, my companions kept 'unfollowing' me. So I'd zip around, dumping off weapons and armor, selling stuff, only to realize none of my companions have been following me. Cue the hour long hunt where I finally find them in the absolute middle of nowhere, standing around.

Fourth or Fifth time that happened, I put it down. I have yet to try it patched, I hope that's fixed or I may put it down for good. It'd be a loss, cause i frackin love this game!

Hehe... Yeah... Arcade is the worst... He never follows you through doors more than 1 time in 4 it seems. I was trying to get the Remnant armour via his quests and the number of times I had to go back because he vanished on me... When I went to the airport I lost him over TEN TIMES.

Oh and can someone tell me why is it when you leave the entry hall on the dam your companions run up to the 1st floor, go out the door up there and then come down the steps... EVERY DARN TIME!.

There were a bunch of games rushed out this year... Fallout NV and Fable 3 were the buggiest of the bunch although Black Ops multiplayer seems to be a close runner up. Fable 3 wins the title though because it only has a single save game... so many people (me included) lost hours of play when the game went nutso.

Well I downloaded it. I wasn't expect the content to be that long considering it was less then 300mbs, but I was pleasantly surprised. I took me a number of hours, there was enough experience to get my character from level 30 to 34 before I finished. Most likely possible to hit 35.

Difficulty, quite hard actually, it is recommend by the game to not go until at least 20, my personnal recommendation is to go at a higher level, I had trouble at thirty.

The enemies
are the ghost people. They seem to have a mutation which allows rapid regeneration. You must blow a limb or it's head off to put it down permantly.

Then the holograms, they are invincible, they are easy to avoid, they only attack after a small warning, you need to use terminals to change things or destroy it's projector.

Three companions for it;

Christina:
A mute when you meet her, her companion perk helps avoid radios which their decayed frequency can set the bomb collar off.

She is also a member of the BoS, and I believe from conversations with her that she is veronica's girlfriend
.

Dog/God

A super mutant with two personallity, depending on which one is present depends on your perk. God allows you to sneak past traps. Dog's is that he eats ghost people so you don't need to blow the limbs off.

Dean Domino

You would of seen this name on the posters during load screens, this singer is now a ghoul. He knows the most about the Sierra Madra. His perk allows you to move around these red cloud areas more easily.

THe basic storyline behind the content is:
You get a radio transmission and follow it. After going into a room you get gassed and you wake up. All your equipment gone, but you have been given a weapon. A holorifle, a new energy weapon. Yow also have a bomb collar, the person who placed this was Elder Elijah, remember the Elder who Veronica told you about. Well he wants to get into this place so has you and the three companions all work together to do so, if one of you die, you all die.

After the content you can find a message from Father Elijah for Veronica, giving this to her will get her a new perk.

Overall, I found it an enjoyable content, quite easy to get lost though. Can't wait to see what else Obsidian has for us.

Once I have finished AC Brotherhood I will definitely get it. I got all the FO3 DLC and enjoyed them all...

I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised at the length of ACB and FO:NV. This is what I expect game length to be. By 2020 I expect FPS games to have maybe 2 levels for the whole game... RPG is definitely the winner in regards to the amount of game satisfaction.
