Why? Well because they are burying Fringe alive in the dreaded Friday Night slot that killed series like Firefly, Sarah Connors Chronicles and Dollhouse.

It's almost certain to get bad viewing figures because of it.

I've said that Fox had something against Fringe right from series 1... they show it a couple of weeks then take a break for a week or two then another episode and then another break... It just pisses off the fans to the point where they don't want to watch the darn thing because they miss episiodes when they do get aired.

Like just, it's been on a two week break and then it is on for two weeks before ANOTHER break.

Oh and guess what they replaced Fringe with on Wednesdays... American Idol... KILL THESE "REALITY" SHOWS ALREADY... THEY SUCK! I blame the writers strike that meant there were more "scriptless" programs shown and they haven't gone away. Those scriptwriters damaged the industry by striking. I would say "serves them right" but ultimately the ones who suffer are the viewers.

I like Fringe... I am just now counting the weeks until Fox cancel it though... "Fox killed Fringe... you bastards!"

American Idol has been declining in popularity for the last few years. With Simon Cowell gone, it's going to shed ratings like a mangy dog's hair. Fox had the balls to pick up some great shows but they shuffle them around too much and don't give them enough time to stand on their own.

This is why I don't watch shows weekly (except 30 Rock and The Office): if they get cancelled, you don't get a proper ending and then you're left with a bunch of wasted time.

I've said it once and I'll say it again... if a series gets cut short and doesn't complete a long storyline then the show should be given the opportunity to make a TV film that finishes the story. It's just the equivalent of 2 episodes back to back and the fans deserve it.

Sky 1 in the UK gets a lot of these programs, and they never cut a series halfway through. Nor do they jump around. If there are any breaks it's usually because the the states things take a break and they can't show the next episode before the US. Though I haven't seen a new episode of Lie to Me in a few weeks, because I doubt the series was only four episodes long.

And I'm still watching fringe on Sky 1, they only get them a week at most afterwards at the moment.

If there is a gap in the US then there is usually a gap in the UK too. And saying that they never cut series halfway is wrong too... Firefliy? SciFi started broadcasting that series AFTER it was cancelled by FOX... when I found out I was really, REALLY peed off. Thank god for Serenity is all I say.

The problem is the directors want the last season of Buffy ratings, and they fail to remember the early season support. Look at how crap Stargate SG1 was at the beginning... everyone hammered that series. Now look at it... one of the top science fiction franchises on TV (better than Star Trek imho and I used to be a Trekkie). But looking back at season 1 numbers I bet current broadcasters would have canned it after 6 episodes. THEY JUST DON'T LET A SERIES GROW PROPERLY!

Moving around the day kills the series. Skipping weeks kills the series. Putting them into a Friday slot kills the series (latest Fri slot death is Medium). Broadcasting on FOX KILLS THE SERIES (unless you are a moronic reality show that is).

Occasionally they get it right... JJ Abrams got his latest show WAYYYYY wrong... Undercovers was just Underwhelming... It was a lame Alias clone without the mythology that drove it. I miss Alias.

Oh, and another thing I hate... REDONE SERIES FROM THE 80's... have we lost the "idea" gene somewhere... or is it that they are too scared to do something new. Mind you, I am enjoying Hawaii Five-O as they chose brilliantly with the Steve/Danno duo. Nothing like the 80's version at all. They should have changed to name to Hawaii Four-O though... just imagine the criminals in the US screaming when the cops arrive... "IT'S FIVE-O. RUN" "No, it's FOUR-O dude..." By the time the argument has finished, the cops will have them in jail.

Not always true, the later SG-1 series and the earlier Atlantis series all finished in the UK first because the US broadcasters were f'ing around. I think it depends on the contract to show them.

Why does fox hate decent sci fi?

They don't turn up that often and when they do they get killed off.

Fringe in the UK... That has jumped around like an insane jumping insect on insane pills while watching Jack Black videos.

It was one reason I stopped watching TV the normal way. I now get to watch my eps about 6 hours after broadcast in the US... If I am busy I don't miss the episode. I also have a TV calendar for the states that is configurable for what I want to watch.

I check on http://pogdesign.co.uk/cat/ to find what has been broadcast and then I can put the showname into http://www.torrentday.com/browse.php. A HD episode downloads in about 15 mins. If I can't find the ep there I go to Pirate Bay and get it from there. Usually it is a lot slower than Torrentday though.

Then I either watch the episode on my bedside computer or on my WDTV Live box. It lets me watch the show in 720p on my plasma TV in the living room.
