Why doesn't new TV shows have a placard at the beginning saying "Hi, this show will be cancelled in season 1. Enjoy the show" because there are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many shows that are cancelled these days that new shows have almost zero chances of getting to season 2.

Mind you, lots of TV shows spend WAY too long setting the scene... they seem to want to stretch out the story so that season 1 is the setting, season 2 is the buildup, season 3 is the action, season 4 is the aftermath etc... But if you don't get past season 1 then it's just the case of a prick tease in TV format. There are SOOOOOOOOO many shows that were not given a chance even though fans loved them (look at Firefly). There are SOOOOOOO many reality shows that are a load of bollocks yet keep coming back year after year. I've come to the conclusion that 99% of TV viewers have the brain capacity of a fly!

Oh well, another SciFi show bites the dust... oh, and they are already sorting out another Battlestar series in the pipeline... Blood and Chrome... Cancelled in season 1 maybe? Cancelled before half the shows are broadcast? Bet it ends up another failure... and why? Because the end of the BSG series pretty much sucked for a lot of viewers.

They wanted a Stargate/Star Trek type series... What they got was CrippledStar Galactica instead.

I watched the show a few times ... I didn't like it. I thought some of the ideas were interesting, but it just came out really dull.
I also don't watch television much anyway.

Started dull but got more interesting as it progressed... I would definitely kept watching if it was on.

Stargate Universe has got canceled now. They are going to show the rest of series 2, but not until march, and then none after that. And it says series 2 is going to be left on a cliffhanger. 

And Vi it is now known as SyFy
