So I load up Homefront to see what it's like... and immediately I see that the game doesn't look half as polished as Call of Doody. The story and immersion though is top notch and you actually really care that the US has been invaded by Korean Asshats.

I can see North Korea attacking the game as American Propoganda though...

Anyway, as I said, I loaded it up just to play one level and the graphics put me right off... but I have to say that after 10 mins I wasn't bothered by the graphics as the game just felt tons more immersive than COD. I ended up playing 3 levels in next to no time... Then I noticed that there were only 3 more levels... SHORT single player...

My hope is that the multiplayer is going to make it worth it. It supports 32 players on the 360 so either it will suck horribly or kick ass royally. Either way, I'm still engrossed in the single player, what little there is of it.

Oh and for the COD Fanboys...

Well I just finished Homefront campaign on normal and to be honest I found it really enjoyable. The guns actually BEHAVE like guns do... They can be annoying at times (due to being used to COD aiming) but it's really got a good story compared to MW2s US invasion. Mind you it is the guy who wrote Red Dawn so it's got a good pedigree.

I'd give it an 8.5/10 because of some map niggles and the graphics could have been better and the selection of guns are very limited but that could be blamed on the fact that the Koreans probably confiscated a lot of home weapons. I was expecting more shotguns for example... there is a total of ONE shotgun in the game.

I wanted the game, still do, but it angers me that the devs and what not hyped up the story to be so perfect and superior to other things like CoD but forgot to change the one thing that's plagued those sp experiences, length.

Well Homefront is ruined for me now... Crysis 2 has totally overshadowed it in my mind.

i was terribly, horribly, awfully dissapointed in this game.

been stoked for it since the initial trailer for it almost a year ago.

let me just first say, i beat it in about 4-5 hours.

i'm tired of these short-ass shooters. i want some depth.

the script itself, is awesome. if only it had been a bit more fleshed out and expanded upon, this could have been a great game.

second, the graphics are, for lack of a better word, atrocious.

no, i'm not a graphics whore, and i never have been. but any third-rate company can make a game look pretty good these days. this just looks slapped together, very bargain-bin feel to the game.

the ending: just, bad. unsatisfying.

multiplayer, decent enough. doesn't hold a candle to bad company 2 or ARMAII though..

it literally ripped off every single nuance of the call of duty games. it makes me wonder if every company feels like they HAVE to do that now. perks, attachments, crosshair customization? killstreaks (battlepoints, same shit.)

this is the first time i've been THIS dissapointed in a highly anticipated game.

oh well, i redboxed it for 2 bucks, so i don't feel bad. and if it's in your local redbox, and you want to check out the kinda cool story, or you're just feeling patriotic, go rent it.

hopefully they'll fix all this nonsense for homefront II.

Shame the campaign is so short, as I like to play games for their stories. But of course, people wish to emulate Call of Duty the same way MMO developers wish to emulate World of Warcraft: those that copy those formulas tend to be laughed out of the market and quickly forgotten. THQ also wanted to hype this game up to disproportionately annoying levels, as if they've taken a page from EA's marketing playbook.

I guess I'll rent this later on.

Have to agree with Panda regarding the crappy graphics... but I think I know why that is... They reduced the graphics quality to boost framerate in multiplayer so they could get more players online to beat COD numbers. Ultimately though it's a fail as it's not as good a game...

If you want a decent length single player though, Crysis 2 is superb. Shame the multiplayer is so crap.

Back on Homefront though, Panda is wrong about the ending... the reason being there WASN'T an ending at all... it was just unfinished.

Here is how short it is btw... Homefront has SIX levels... Crysis 2 has EIGHTEEN long levels. No contest there!
