I actually got into this game recently. I have a nice KV-2 sitting in my garage right now. Almost a KV-3. And leveling the Maus line when my KV-2 is wrecked.

Simple tip: Don't level American tanks. It's a pain in the ass for very little payoff. Go for Russian tanks. Or, if you're into big and heavy tanks, go for the German line.

For me, this game pretty much defined what makes team vs team good. There's a lot of depth in this game in terms of tact and strategy. And I LOVE it.

Yeah i was trying to level up the russian SPG tanks but have given that up for now till I'm more experienced at the game cause i keep getting raped by the light tanks.  Now leveling up the light tanks myself and saving up for the BT-2.  Only been playing for a couple days now but I'm hooked, this game is sweet.

Ahh, the infamous T-54 line.

Trust me, leveling up that particular line is worth it. The T-54 is a beast.

Well saved up and bought the BT-7 afterwards and got killed by artillery every round so gave up on that for and went back to the artillery lol.  Currently kicking ass with the SU-26, that things a beast with the 122mm gun.  Sucks ass if your team leaves you open though unless you got the high ground.

I saw Vi posting on the WoT forums so I thought I'd pop in and say hi.

Yeah, so basically, I don't have a life anymore because World of Tanks took it from me. I'm "Homeles" in game and I'm usually a raging douchebag. It's really cool to know that you guys are playing as well!

You just have to understand arty weaknesses and where they typically set up. That way you can take cover from them.

That said, the main USSR artillery line is a waste of time. Because the best USSR Artillery(S-51) is quite literally not accessible from it. You level it up from the heavy tank KV. That, and leveling up artillery is much, MUCH slower than heavy tanks.

Now, you might be wondering how in the world the S-51 is better than the Object 212 or the new addition the Object 261.

The reason for this is two fold. First of all, Tier 7 and 8 artillery cost more money to use than what you get unless you win. And second, there's an aspect of the game called "Matchmaking weight." Every team is assigned with a diverse bunch of units, but they're designed so that both teams have a similar matchmaking weight. In theory, the more powerful units would get higher weight. But given human ability to make mistakes, you would know that this is not always the case. So you have to find that best units for the lowest matchmaking weight.

The S-51 has a tremendous amount of attack power and lower matchmaking weight. Meaning, you will be matched up with more powerful tanks on your team. The Object 212 just isn't that much of an improvement over the S-51. I think the only things that are improved are that it has much better armor...which matters naught for artillery and slightly better reload speed. It doesn't have greater attack power.

I thought the BT-7 wasn't that bad. The A-20 is one of the most awful grinds in the game, but after that you get one of the most enjoyable (IMO) and best credit grinding tanks in game, the T-34.

I'm not a big fan of arty... highest I've had was probably Tier IV in beta, so I don't have much experience with them and can't really give much of an opinion.

I do drive a Tier VIII heavy though, the T32 American heavy tank.

I do understand artys weakness's i just seems to prefer being as far away from my enemy when I'm killing them as possible.  Will go back to the BT-7 to finish leveling up that line once i know more about each map and the way medium and heavy tanks move on the maps, every time i see a BT-7 in one of my games it gets eaten alive so i wanna have some research done before i go back to it lol.  Still only been playing for 7 days now and whats up Homeles.

Speaking of the American heavy line, research the T30 ASAP. As far as I know, the T30 is getting moved to the American tank destroyers(Don't ask just go with it) and you're getting a new tank for free in return. :)

Yeah I should have it by then. Main focus is the T34, since it'll become a premium tank. If I can get the T30 as well, that'd be cool.

And Kronic, you're distracting me. Need more tanks! FEED ME!

lol didnt even notice you in my game earlier till you talked at the end there.  I need to buy a desktop computer to play this game on, could fry some bacon on the table behind my laptop after a while of playing.   Do you also have a problem with the game freezing your comp from time to time?  Happens to me 1-3 times a day.
