"Is noise pollution bad for the economy?"

MW3
« on: November 07, 2011, 10:45:49 PM »

well 8.5 hrs ago i reluctantly picked up my copy of a game i wasnt expecting much from...so far ive only played up to wave 11 in survival, which i did quite easily by my self and found it quite boring. could be ok with mates but meh....i jumped on the campaign for a couple of  hours and wow!...im loving it! with the turtle beach x41's the sound quality is amazing and with bits like:
having a gun fight in a jewelry store and shooting ppl in zero gravity as a plane crashes
just got me more exited for what would happen next. im not big on fps campaigns, feels like its all been done before. sofar this has been a 0-100km/h ride that i didnt want to get off (mind you im only 2hrs in)....

im guessing multiplayer is where im going to be disappointed with this one...

I was just about to put "Still waiting" but my copy just dropped through the letterbox. Just installing it to the hard drive now.

I was looking at the video of the social aspects. Makes the Battlefield Battlelog look MEH! to be honest. Looks more like Halo now.

I doubt I will sign up for ELITE though... I'm just not that much of a fanboy. At least now we will have less idiots playing BF3.

Well MW3 campaign may be good but multiplayer is still run and gun gayness. BF3 multiplayer is still 100x better.

the campaign was awesome! but i finished it in 5.5hrs on regular and that was taking it easy- so way too short... multiplayer is like a different skin, different maps etc but just more of the same. its like a map pack for mw2, im not done with it yet and i dont regret my purchase yet.....in fact, im quite happy:)

You should rent BF3 and have a blast at multiplayer. It's freakin awesome dude. Took a bit to get used to it again but afterwards it was great when you had teams doing bounding overwatch like some guys I played with. Made Metro into my favourite map from my least favourite.

I only wish they had made a colour blind version. That is one thing that IW got right.

Let's just say I never quick-scoped at all, as a matter a fact I was awful at it, and I try it in one game of MW3 and I go 39-8.. OVERPOWERED!! It's just too damn easy.

This game honestly just looks like shit.. really doesn't look better then MW2 at all, and the menus and everything just look awful as well. I mean it's a lot fun and that's what really matters but the whole thing is just a cluttered mess. They went up in a lot of categories and they also went down in a lot of catogories.

I still have yet to try campaign or any Spec Ops, so we will see what happens there.. Crossing my fingers!!

And Elite sucks, a really bad $50 purchase on my part as of right now.. It also looks awful, it's not even intergrated in the game, like Halo WayPoint.. Though I haven't tried much such as the clan crap so we will see where that takes us. I really hope Elite gets features such as personal weapons and shit, who knows. I'll look at it more tomorrow.. Even more crossing fingers!!

And BTW for MP I am really just using the same guns and stuff, I'm not paying attention to everything because I'm just overloaded with stuff.. Then GroundWar was already bad enough, and now they add Kill Confirmed into it just makes it a nightmare. Also they ruined Barebones by adding Kill Confirmed.

Yeah... that is one thing I freaking HATE about COD. No way to turn it off either which is why I will not be playing MW3 multiplayer and sticking with BF3. Even when I do crap at BF3 I enjoy myself. COD is all about run and gun and camping... No tactics used whatsoever.

COD 4 > WAW > MW2

« Reply #9 on: November 10, 2011, 04:18:33 AM »

So is this game shitty or what? I haven't bought it yet, nor do I plan to any time soon, but everyone at school is drooling over it. I understand that all of the bandwagoners think MW3 is the greatest game ever, but I'm really burnt out on COD and even my friends who've been playing since COD 4 like it. It's probably because they're in the honeymoon phase and they haven't discovered all of its flaws yet, but I'm still really tempted to buy this. From what I can tell, it's just MW2.5. It's not an ugly game, but it doesn't look nearly as beautiful as MW2 did, and basically the only changes are maps, guns, and a bunch of unnecessary shit that just overcomplicates things. It doesn't even feel like COD anymore; more like a Blops/MW2/Battlefield ugly duckling love child. Can I get some of your guys' opinions?

The single player campaign is pretty much the second chapter to MW2, its not all that hard either i beat it on veteran in 9 hours and thats with ALOT of wasted time just walking around and looking for intel and just sight seeing lol.  Multiplayer is like a combination of MW2 guns/killstreaks/perks and Black Ops style maps, can't say that i hate it yet but it's not looking to good (glad i kept MW2).  Just getting into spec ops and only tried one round of survival so far so cant really comment on them yet.

If you are into single run n gunning then get MW3. If you are into teamplay combat get BF3. It's as simple as that.

MW3 is all about kills... BF3 is about helping your team.

I Disagree Neo

I base the separation of the games more or less on the cod maps vs. bf maps and cod perks vs. bf vehicles/attachments.

When looked at in these spectrum's the differences are very very apparent. When looked at on the gameplay spectrum, cod gameplay vs. bf gameplay, the argument has a lot of gray area.

Vehicles/Attachments vs. Perks/Killstreaks

~~For BF this is basically the equivalent to the perks and killstreaks for COD, except pertaining more to the realism side. The vehicles are all balanced per side and each team is given an equal number of each. The team who uses the vehicles the best usually is the winner of the game, much like COD, where the team who uses the perks/killstreaks the best generally wins the game. In COD, the killstreaks are the same for either team, nationality not a factor like BF3. Because of this, every1 has an equal advantage (not using Rank as a factor) of choosing the "uber" perk or killstreak to help his team win.

COD Maps vs. BF Maps
~~COD Maps are expertly designed to allow for fast movement. BF Maps are designed for player placement, aka being in the best spot at given moments. Ill explain: COD Maps are usually tightly woven with many corners. Often times centered in a small town, a city block, a building floor, or in a designated quarantined open area; these style of maps allow for teams to move rapidly quickly working together to clear out spaces. Much like how a SWAT Team would move when clearing a floor, they would move quickly shouting out to their team members when a room has been deemed clear. BF maps are generally quite the opposite. (Notice I use the word GENERALLY.) Openness and free range is the main aspect being pushed in BF. The maps, depending on the game mode, are tiered. Meaning when playing, lets say RUSH (which is equivalent to Attack&Defend style) when the first base is destroyed, another base on the same map is brought to view. This is where vehicles come into play. The team who uses them the most efficiently and generally the swiftest often come out the winner. The maps are therefore very very large in this sense. Where like Sabotage all you have to do is plant a bomb and the game is over, RUSH you plant a total of 10 bombs. (2 Plant sites, 5 bases = 10 Total Plants.) Games last longer because of the size of the maps, and therefore require, like Neo said, a very efficient team.

All in all the games have their similarities (attachments, guns, gameplay to an extent) but the games are largely different due to more than the two comparisons I provided. Each game is phenomenal, it just depends on your style Wink

well said mate,
furthermore, there are twats in all multiplayer games - i think if measured per capita, the twat to team mate ratio would be similar!
