   I think my 360 is finally RRoD'ing.

It only did it after I turned if off though.  So, I waited, let it cool down, and it came on just fine.  Weird.

It did it again when I turned it off.  I tried turning it on immediately and it wouldn't come on.

So yeah, time to let it cool for a while.

What's weird is I've had an extra fan on it since I bought it (March of 2007), so I'm not sure wtf happened.  Maybe since I forgot to turn the fan on and played for an hour it got just too hot?  Who knows, I hope it works, if not I'm going to have to go exchange it with a new one at Wal-Mart, but keep my harddrive so I have all my stats and other games.  That should work, right?  The HD's are swappable?

God... I'd hate it if my 360 did a RROD... I had some weird things happening with it but I found that when you turn it off with the main power button it's still on standby... turning the main block off and waiting 30 seconds and turning it back on fixed my problem. Have you tried that Alpine?

I just let it cool down for a good 3 hours, turned it back on and was able to play COD4 until I got angry and stopped (got tired). 

It just got too hot.  I changed the way I've got my fan blowing on it, hopefully it stays cool!

honestly...i've seen probably 50 "RRoD's" on my 360. it still works perfectly. (except the random occasions where it doesn't think there is a disc in it...)

i was playing a few months ago as we were having an ice storm, and when it knocked our power out, the power flickered off and on probably 20 times or more, every time it came back on the RRoD showed up, so i finally got up and unplugged it from the wall lol

well, i have heard of a solution for the red ring of death told to me by one of my suoer smart asian friends, keep in mind this guy has like a 452345234 IQ, but when he told me how to fix the RRoD, i looked at him like he was stupid......he said to turn it on the flat side on a hard flat surface and stand on it for 5 mins and it would work again....has anyone else heard this? or is my smart asian buddy crazy or just playing a weird/funny trick on me....LMK

Never plug it into a stick outlet, you know with multiple outlets.

i have a first gen console. got it 2months after release. never had a problem with it untill i moved into my new house. as i now have a gaming room i bought a new tv stand for the new plasma i put my xbox in one of the open slots under the tv. it took about two hours before the rrod appered it froze up, i turned it off...then on, and there it was, rrod. i unplugged it took it out of the tv stand and stood it back up  next to the tv stand like ive always had it, turned it on and it hasnt happened since.

has this happened to anyone? does anyone have their xbox in their tv cabnet?

I have mine in my TV cabinet. Although I slightly Modified it a little. I took the back panel completely off that way the fan blows all the hot air out and behind the cabinet, keeping the "enclosed" area cool-ish

Mines in the cool bedroom with the wires leading into the living room... Noisy 360 makes no noise in my living room yay...

Also with it way from anything hot probably helps but it's one of the latest chipsets so it only gets slightly warm anyway...
